I wiill assume that second sentence was an ironic joke.

I did realise the implications of your 65%.

    I disagree.

However one thing that is making me increasingly wary is that an AMAZING no of tipsters are going for Germany.

Ive just read the pullout from one Sunday paper and the 7 tipsters have gone:

Germany Germany Germany Germany Germany Holland Germany Holland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bear in mind that they were predicting the winners not assessing value.

All my experience-and no doubt others on here-tells me that whenever a large group of punters are tipping the same team.....its bound to lose.......

Maybe I didn't phrase it too well. It just seems that most people oppose Spain because they have won the last two tournaments in the same way people will say a six cannot come up again because the previous two throws have been 6.

To me Spain have the strongest team and the strongest squad. Their weakness is at left back where they have no cover for Alba - and both Germany and Holland are strong on the right flank. Whether they are value is open to question as is whether other teams are better value. My point is that Spain will be favourites in every game they play which will not be the case for the others.

Most tipsters see Germany as the up and coming team...and they see Spain as tired and without a first class striker

    dont shoot the messenger btw

Spain DO have a first class striker imo except he had a bad year with a team that performed poor in the EPL.

If he starts in the games then he could win the top scorer easy.

Just cause a player has a poor spell does that mean he isnt top class ? no.

    hey,like I said,dont shoot the messenger!

actually its only a few who have mentioned the striker "problem"...I would have thought Torres wont be first choice-itll be Llorente wont it?

fucking hope so as I am building my telegrapgh dream teams around him,lol

Spain have two outfield players over 29 - Alonso (30) and "Xavi" Hernandez (32).

Germany have one - Klose (33)

    :thinking

While I'd like to see Llorente start as first choice, to be honest I'd be pretty surprised if he did, I'd expect it to be Torres as first choice, with Llorente as "Plan B".

The above is just my opinion, not based on anything more solid than that, so I may well be wrong. Although I've just checked Marca, where they have an option for readers to send in their predicted lineup for the opening game. After around 26,000 entries, Torres is currently first choice up front. Given my usual opinion of Marca and its readership, I'd therefore ignore everything they say, and put Llorente in :lol

I don't know what sort of press Enlgland are getting/producing south of the border but once again it looks like you lot are setting yourselves up for a fall.

Rooney is predicting you will do well, Linekar and Lawro are saying Rooney can now head a ball due to his hair transplant but due to your injuries and call offs yoy'be now no chance.

Eurogedden (now on itv4) are having a dig at how you always fail but tongue in cheek they are all hoping there points are wrong.

Even the charity game last week tried to get in on the act by making the number to donate be 0118 0118 1966 !!!! FFS.....

Hodgson has given himself an easy way out already by leaving out Rio... If they do well then he was right and if they fail drastically he can then say he made an ertor and it'll not happen again

Please don't be fooled by the London press (who after all have to sell newspapers) and think what they print is representative of all english people. I have yet to meet anyone who thinks we will get out of our group. Even if we do we will likely then loose to Spain. The semis are beyond our hopes. I actually can't remember any tournament ever where anyone I know thought England could win it. Hope - yes we hoped - but we never really thought we could win it.

I will also go further and say that the only time I have ever known a team from the British isles who thought that they would easily win a tournament was "Ally's Army" in 1978.

We english learnt a lot from that

Save your breath mate. I've lost count of how many times I've posted on different forums telling the Scots and Irish that the cunts who big up England's chances in the press (and wind people up with their arrogance) are just a bunch of wankers who in no way represent the views of your average England fan who knows we are shit.

I'm sure they deliberately chose to ignore it. I'm not even sure how Kegman can think we're setting ourselves up for a fall when the only person he can quote who thinks we have even a remote chance of doing well is a player. What else do you expect them to say.

I've never known expectation so low and whilst that's definitely a good thing in that people are refusing to be fired up by people who's only concern is selling newspapers, I don't subscribe to the view that this lack of expectation is going to inspire the team to do well. I do think they'll get out of the group and of course anything after that is 11 v 11 but I have no faith in Hodgson's negative tactics and don't think we're capable of coming from behind to win a game if/when, the opposition score first.
