You can stick everything you've got on Brazil finishing third Steve

I dont normally encourage gambling :lookaround but if you have any loose change in your skybet accounts i suggest you strongly consider a small bet here. He is an UNBELIEVABLE 66/1 shot with them for Player of the Tournament.

    12's on Betfair.

It was a travesty that Brazil knocked Chile out on pennas, had Chile got through and beaten Columbia (which surely they would have, given the way Columbia were 2nd best to an awful Brazil side) then last night's game v Germany would have been an absolute cracker.

Of course I can Steve. The fact is that they are pointless now.....and they have always been pointless. There was no more excitement 24 years ago when England were in it than there will be this coming Saturday. If someone had asked me before the world cup then if I'd have been up for watching England play off for 3rd place I'd have said yes but, having been through it as a viewer and a supporter I have to say it's a complete waste of time and should be scrapped.

The players obviously didn't care and their body language said they would rather have been somewhere else. In their minds, they should have been playing to be champions of the world and, instead, were kicking a ball about in a game that would become meaningless as soon as the final whistle blew with the possible exception of becoming an answer to a quiz question one day. "Who came third in the world cup in ........?"

The answer of course being "Who gives a fuck"

I admit that I'm the worst world cup punter on here.

Punter politely pointed out my lack of knowledge regarding Kroos , who I took more interest last night .Kroos and Khedira dominated the midfield in the first half.

I will not post my thoughts on tonight's match.

p,s. I can't get smilies but I want a big red faced one

Nonsense traeth, your IKTS predictions suggest otherwise, you're going well there. We all have a wrong call, i make several. It wont stop me from posting them up though. Good luck tonight :thumb Not sure why you cant get smilies??

    Small stakes but i'm going for a 3-2, 2-3, 3-3 tonight.

    thanks punter ,
I'm back on the bike and backing Argentina tonight.
In the IKTS I had a lucky week during the last 16 , I had my insurance token on last night's match , don't think many would have the correct score [ still no smilies?]

good luck with your score bets

After last week when two of the players I backed to score managing to fire blanks only to score in extra time and win me fuck all, I suffered the pain of having Krooz and Schurler (cunt) score last night when I had backed them. The only goalscorer I'm in profit with is Robben so I'll reinvest some on him tonight and I'm going to go with Higuain.

Also laid Messi to score on Saturday, only to pooh my pants on 90 minutes when he had a one on one with the keeper. This is one bet i'll be happy to lose if he scores and the Argies go through

So, van Persie and de Jong both play for the Dutch, while Argentina are without Di Maria and Aguero. Argentina have struggled to get into their stride this tournament, and have relied on Messi's genius more than once to get them out of jail. The Dutch have been consistent this tournament (the Australia game aside) and I think they have a better chance of getting to the final than Bet365's 6/5 'to qualify' offers, so I'm going with that.

All my eggs are in the Argentina basket at the moment because I didn't know who to cover or what to do so I'm hoping they get through v the dutch tonight and then i'll be able to cover my bets :hope

After the first 3 or 4 days I thought I'd make enough to retire as it was going to be a piece of piss but unfortunately that went tits up when Costa Rica pumped Uruguay and most of my ante post bets screwed up. I also didn't rate the dutch (as previously mentioned on here) - Portugal were another massive loss for me. Decent bet on Switzerland, Chile and Portugal all to qualify from their groups.

Good idea, that's what Chris Froome did. What could possibly go wrong.

Interesting first half, looks like the Dutch are playing for pens since the off.

Both teams overly negative, just 2 shots apiece (only 1 on target all game) and only 4 corners won, on the 82 min mark.

Germany will thrash whoever wins this.

I'm expecting a similar sort of game tell the truth Seen, Argentina aren't going to run about like headless chickens from the start expecting passion and pride to get them through and will have studied that Brazillian game very closely.
I had Argentina down to win the world cup before the event started but having watched the two semis it's hard not to see Germany winning, The Argentina I fancied had Messi firing on all cylinders but once again he just hasn't turned up, he'll need to turn up on Sunday tthough if Argentina are to stand any chance.

I thought Mascerano tonight was immense, he was the difference between the two sides; had it not been for him the Dutch would be safely in the final.

I can now cover my bet and take Germany to lift the trophy although I agree with slick and that the final might be similar to this.

Rojo had a good game tonight as well as Macherano was. The germans have looked solid and apart from Demichelis having a couple of wee brain farts I thought the argies were the better team tonight although they didnt create many great chances. Palacio should have done better with his chance when he tried to flick the header over the keeper.

Interesting why Van Gaal didn't sub the keeper tonight considering he'd never saved a pen in a match before though.
