    Updated odds here..
    http://www.oddschecker.com/football/world-cup/top-goalscorer

I've been chucking bits and pieces at this market for a few weeks now. Not the best of markets to get involved in i know, but i've taken the chance.

I would have small profits on Messi and Suarez, and a better return for Ronaldo should any of them win it.
Skybet were going a generous 33/1 about Aguero for a brief while. I had some of that after already taking 16/1 about him previously.

Two prices that have really caught my eye though are Robin Van Persie @ 33/1 for an e.w bet. It looks as though he has a great relationship with Van Gaal and he'll be out to prove that he should be Utd captain too. I just think he's a good shout for the e.w value and i've had a decent bet here.

The other, is such a big price that i see it as a potential back/lay bet. Juan Mata was included in the Spanish squad yesterday. I'm not sure how much game time he's likely to get but odds of 785 on betdaq, i thought was worth taking a chance on.

Of the other longshots, none of which will win but that i felt obliged to stick a quid on were..

    Sturridge @ 74
    Sterling @ 146
    Paulinho @ 430
    Dzeko @ 70
    Oscar @ 132
    Kroos @ 255
    Remy @ 92

this was one market which I had some winnings last world cup

I was on Forlan who came equal first thanks to his goal in the 3rd/4th place play off , so I'm looking for a player in the semis for this one

at the moment the two who I've got interest in are Higuain and Muller , not placing a bet until next week

I think Holland will have a poor world cup punt and can see them not qualifying so I'm leaving RVP alone.

I'll have a wee dabble but still unsure with who I'm going with

    Stats for Argentina's strikers

Played - goals - goals per game

    84 - 37 - 0.44.....Messi
    50 - 21 - 0.42.....Aguero
    36 - 22 - 0.61.....Higuain

Argentina have a piss-easy group with Bosnia, Iran and Nigeria in opposition, they are long odds-on to win all 3 qualifying games (2/5, 1/6, 1/3) and you would think they will score a fair few goals in these games. Round two will see them up against either France, Switzerland or Ecuador.
Higuain has had a cracking season for Napoli so his confidence should be sky high, and he scored 9 goals in the qualifying games. He scored 4 goals in the last World Cup Finals. Too big at 22/1 for me, strong ew bet :crossfingers

You could be right Keg, Chile could qualify ahead of them. 6/4 for the dutch not to make it past the group stage.

Good luck Traeth, Seen, with Higuain. There's no doubting his ability and he did score 4 more goals in qualifying than what Aguero did.

Have you placed the bet yet, Punter? It's just that he's 33/1 at Coral, the extra 8 points there is far better than the free bet offer from PP.

Yes, i've placed the bet, the minimum to qualify £20 (£10 e.w.)

It could be a bitter sweet win should he finish top scorer as i could of had an extra £100 should he win it or an extra £20 if he's placed. So yes Corals is the better price.
But i was thinking, what if i've called him wrong and he only scores 2 or 3, that's £10 or £15 in free bets, i just see it as an opportunity to try win my stake or maybe even more back.

I take it goals from the 3rd place play off game count towards this?

I need a Van Persie goal. Maybe two.

Yes, they do - apparently that's how Muller managed Golden Boot last time.
