Open it then and it should run,
If it's the version that says 'formatting disk c:' after clicking 'open' close it quickly.

The castings shit hot but I don't get any sound until I turn the volume up on the popcorn screen, not a big deal but a quick heads up in case anybody else has the same problem.

I'm thinking of getting an android tv box to get something more dedicated, there;s plenty of cheap ones knocking about but after reading plenty of reviews this one seems to be the dogs bollox...

Reason being casting from the tablet is fine, but it's still hit and miss and you cannot cast everything, especially xbmc.

I've took the plunge and ordered it, I only started looking at them because a couple of lads in work were Interested in a raspberry Pi and what it could do, They ain't tech savvy so I found a cheaper box on ebay that would fulfil their needs fully loaded et all but this box caught my eye mainly because of it's speed and reliability of the bespoke software.

It's not cheap but if I can offload a Q5 cable box I bought a couple of months ago which I don't use it would pay half the cost.
Anybody on Wirgin cable tv, I have a box that cost me £86 quid two months ago but will be willing to part with for £50 squid, it will open all you need.

I bought it as a backup for my satellite TV but It's hardly ever been used and just gathering dust.

What channels does the android box get slick ?

And do you only need to be connect it to wifi and into your tele ?

I've told sky to poke it for movies and sports amd saw one of my pals on facebook asking about these android boxes and he was talking in the region of 80 quid for everything

You can get them for as little as £30 quid wins but I've bought cheap b4 and always come unstuck, I was looking at a preloaded one for about £80 Keggers but bear in mind the box itself is only worth about £50.
If anybody is going down that route this is probably the best deal due to the sellers software and support...plus when you do a factory reset on his box, it resets with all the initial software back in place not a complete wipeout like usual boxes do.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XBMC-GOTH...ctronics_VideoSwitches_SM&hash=item3a8673213b

He also has cheaper boxes but you should be going for a quad core like the one I listed.

It doesn't take a lot of effort though to get your own box like I have and install the software yourself, I opted for one bit dearer than the rest (MiniX NEO X8-H) but is supposed to be the dogs bollox of the android tv box world and it is.
I've had it for a couple of days now and it pisses on the raspberry pi in terms of speed and smoothness, it also comes with a free air mouse remote which makes controlling it a piece of cake.

You do only need to connect it to the Internet and tele Keggers, The wireless range on the one I bought is superb, better than any pc, tablet or mobilephone I have in the house, I can use it in any room of the house without a problem, although it will be based in the living room (same room as the router) so the range doesn't really mater to me, any wireless android box should work within that range.

I can watch anything I want on it, live sports are a bit ropey depending on who's streaming them, but movies and tv series are crystal clear in 1080p, plus the box I bought is also capable of playing 4k movies making it future proof.

It's like an android phone in a box Keggers but with a lot more powerful graphics processor.

Howson's took the plunge and bought one.
I was showing him how to use it today and it was like trying to teach a toddler how to ride a bike:lol

I should rename this thread Howson's problems because that's what it's going to turn into.

Howson I was using the other remote before and I think it might be better for you until you get used to the minix.

Easiest way to watch the kids stuff is either use 'movie25' and select 'Genre' then family movies.

Or go into 'Navi-x' and use the search function, type in something like 'Disney' and all the servers containing kids stuff will appear, click on one and you'll see a list of films not just disney ones.

Or if you want to watch a particular film, use the search function and type in the name of the movie.
