Can anyone give me one good reason why AP McCoy shouldn't walk this contest after winning his 20th title and retiring?

Because he's won it before? Because he may get a lifetime achievement award instead?

Looks like buying money to me

I've backed AP at 7/2 on betfair and had a saver on Ronnie O'Sullivan at around 16s. Anyone coming out of the pack?

It would be great for McCoy to win it again. I had the biggest bet of my life on him the last time he won it, but it was skinny odds by the time i got on. The man is a legend and has every chance of winning it again. My only slight worry is we wont be seeing anything of him after April. He might need one more Gold Cup or Grand National winner to remain the favourite for the rest of the year?

As for one coming out of the pack, if Gerrard wins the FA Cup, he might have a squeek, with this his final season. Englands 2nd most capped outfield player. Hard to see it but i just get the feeling there's a back and lay price in there. 33/1

Ronnie also looks big. Maybe should have more than just a saver? One of the more likely ones to shorten around December.

There's a few ifs and maybe's in there, Chris Froome is Skys number one for the TDF again, if he wins that then that's two under his hat without a SPOTY.
It's also the RU world cup year and rugby players are always popular should a British team win it.

One for consideration for minor honours is very likely going to be Lizzy Yarnold who recently got a 'career grand slam' in the skeleton...

...but the 'a female must finish in the top three' role might be filled by Katarina Johnson-Thompson instead. The World Championships (in athletics) are in Beijing later on this year.

If the racing fraternity repeat what they did in 2010 even he petrolheads won't be able to get Lewis Hamilton to pip Tony McCoy to the finish line like they did with Rory McIlroy last year.

Froome's off to a flyer in the TDF, If he can win his second tour I reckon he's in with a great chance of winning SPOTY considering he's never won it before.
Cyclists have a good history of winning SPOTY too.

    Froome 25/1 @ Betfred.
Was just gonna have a tenner on him but can't remember my bleeding password with them.

I can put it on for you and you can pass a tenner on to Punter as part of my IKTS entry next season if you like - Let me know

OK cheers, I'll give him the tenner when I pay arkids IKTS.

I wish you would have posted 5 mins ago lol because I also found a tenner in my Boylesports account, was only 16/1 with them so had a fiver E/W, at least that will cover the cost of both bets as I'd be very surprised should he go on and win TDF he doesn't come in the top 3 of SPOTY.

Id be worried about murray if he wins wimbledon, and also that bloke who drives his car round and round and round.

And tell the truth even I would win the GP in Hamiltons Car.
Murray had his moment the last time he won Wimbledon and I can't see Hamilton winning two on the bounce.

If Froome manages 2 TDF's then he'd be a shoe in for a tip 3 place imo and because us Brits like our cyclists so much I'd expect his odds to tumble. so I could quite easily lay the bet off.

Maybe not, but as no Brit has ever won 2 TDF's I reckon he's a cracking bet @ those odds, more so the E/W if you can get it at 25/1.

Looking at the odds ODM posted in Feb I'd say the bookies haven't cottoned on yet, I'd expect those odds to drop below 10's very soon, should Froomy keep up his current form.

Max odds for Froome now 16/1 across the board.
ODM's tenner @ 25/1 must have sent alarm bells ringing.
