I picked up a Euro 2016 coupon from my local ladbrokes shop and done a bit of studying and tried to predict the finalists using their guide/schedule printed on the back of the coupon.

I eventually predicted both France and Germany to win their groups and to both progress to final. I looked at odds and it was 12/1 fav so ended up sticking a tenner on for intetest.

Last night i was pissing about on tinternet and saw eurosport had a predictor. Filled it in with both France and Germany winning groups blah blah blah and low and behold - they meet in the fucking semis !!!!!

Have since looked at fixtures on UEFA, Daily Mail, Mirror, Wikipedia etc etc and yes they do meet in the semis if they win their groups.

    Ladbrokes are useless cnuts.

In 2008 we done a works bet to name the finalists and the same thing happened. Both teams won their groups but met in semis and we put it down to our own stupidity but now I'm not too sure. Granted France and Germany could end up in the final but it would need one of them not to win their group.

Which is entirely possible. These things never ever work out exactly as planned as the odd goal can make the difference between top and second which is why backing group winners in acccas lookalike pinching money to some people but really isn't

I'll just add- by way of example- that France were long odds on fav to win their group in the 2002 World Cup being not only the World Cup holders but having won the euros two years earlier.

They finished bottom of their group with one point and didn't even score one goal in the competition .

If we could know a bit more inside information on the state of the teams I might be tempted to have a bet. I assume Albania don't have a great chance..

At 500/1? What makes you think that Mr Holmes - have you got a mole on the inside?

I'll take it for granted (given your puritanical rants in the past) that you would be wanting anyone trading financials on the basis of inside information separating from their testicles at the earliest opportunity, yet you would only want to bet if you had inside information on the football?

    Mmmm, I smell hypocrisy.

Overlooking your vulgarity which I take by now as par for the course and to which I have become inured, there is some difference between a small bet on a football tournament and bringing down a nation's economy. I don't recognize the odds you quote to what Slick has posted.

They are 500/1 to win the competition which means that only an idiot would back them to win the group or even to qualify again three odds on shots

Well this is why I would like to know a little more information on the teams. Weren't Leicester 5000/1 to win the Premiership anyway?

Soooo predictable.....and, based in the information available at the time, only an idiot would have backed them. Absolutely nobody backed them out of any kind of logic, all of them would have been Leicester fans . If you happen to be of Albanian blood, go for it, stick a hundred quid on them

I wasn't asking for insider trading; just maybe whether key players were injured or who was currently on form. http://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/euro...k-win-over-germany/ar-BBtCRe5?ocid=spartanntp

Well it might suggest that Slovakia has been overlooked, or that Germany is weaker than thought.

Well it might do - if you happen to be slightly retarded.

    1. Anyone who takes any notice of friendly games when betting on competition matches is an idiot.

The game started off on a playable surface and ended up as a farce with the ball not rolling at all on most of the pitch. Add to that the fact that half the German team who started last night's game won't be lining up to kick off in a couple of weeks and you'll start to see why the game was a total irrelevance.
