    Opening match
    Japan v Russia

I can see Russia doing ok up to 60 minutes then Japan will run away with it.

so using my free bet on Russia +18 first half

Outright winner , these prices from paddy power for top sides

    New Zealand
    11/8

    South Africa
    4/1

    England
    4/1

    Ireland
    8/1

    Wales
    10/1

    Australia
    14/1

    France
    25/1

    Scotland
    40/1

    Argentina
    50/1

I'll be backing Wales but the value lies with Australia after their win against the All Blacks when they had a man advantage for most of the game

    h.t. Japan 12-7 Russia

Russia looked knackered after 30 minutes .
Commentators commenting on the humid conditions as both teams make handing errors.

These evening games could have a few errors , 11 a.m. kick offs here

    here are the caps
    Australia +8 v England -8
    New Zealand -12 v Ireland +12
    Wales -7 v France +7
    Japan +14 v South Africa -14

I see the Australia v England as a 50/50 , which makes Australia +8 interesting.
Ireland have beaten the All Blacks in recent years but I cannot see them beating New Zealand , not a bet for me.
Wales have beaten France in 7 of the last 8 meetings but a world cup match is a different matter. I believe that Wales will win this one but I'm biased when it comes to my country. A France first half/ Wales ft bet could be worth considering.
Japan playing at home with +14 cap could be worth considering even though I think S.A. will win.

    Japan v South Africa
After posting my prediction I've had a look at the SA team and noticed they have selected a big bench with the split being 6/2 [ 6 forwards/ two backs ].
It looks like the SA will be trying to bulldoze their way towards the try line and then replace their forwards at 60 minutes with some more monsters to repeat until they start running the ball against the tiring Japanese.

They did seem to tire against Scotland in the second half letting them come back into the match but held their own when it became vital to lose no more points to avoid defeat so it may have been mental rather than physical tiredness when they lapsed as they held Scotland at bay for nearly half an hr after that.
Same at the beginning of the match, Scotland looked strong for 10 mins or so taking the lead but once Japan settled down they took the game away from Scotland going into HT.

If Japan stay focused and with the crowd behind them I see it being a lot closer game than those odds suggest.

Just watched the Wales game (congratulations traeth). Wow. Only watched two games and that was this one and the England one yesterday when it looked like they were going to get a battle. Turned over to the Brexit story when it became obvious that they were going to piss it.

I know fuck all about the game but from what I've heard, Japan might give Safrica a game for ten minutes before they get pasted.

Nah Traeth was right, Japan got mullered.
For as much speed and technical ability Japan had they couldn't match the strength of South Africa and were totally out muscled.

Should be two cracking semis next weekend.

Japan took the wrong options from the start , they tried to be too adventurous from the kick off , receiving in their 22.

Wales have to play much better next week if they are to get to the final , I think New Zealand, England and France had the benefit of a two week break due to typhoon postponements.

If we get to the final for me beating New Zealand would mean more than beating England. Losing to England would be harder to take than losing to New Zealand.

    the caps
    New Zealand -7 v England +7
    South Africa -7 v Wales +7

Would love a Wales V England final for everything that brings with it but can't see it.

Surprised to see the Handicap is the same for both games, thought New Zealand would be a lot less than that minus wise.
This NZ side look a breed apart with Plenty of Youth and Energy, I think England will do well to keep within 7 points hence I'd have to fancy NZ.

SA v Wales is much harder to pick as It looks a lot closer on paper, hence I haven't a clue who will win this but wish Wales all the best.

I was gonna go to bed early and get up for it but now I've got the taste it looks like I'm in for the long ride.

Which means I better set the recorder as I'll fall asleep about an hr b4 KO.

Hard lines to Wales, maybe on another day you's would have won that as there was nowt in it.
I'm no rugby aficionado but they do need to put a time limit on scrums or just give a free kick to the side who doesn't collapse it, that's the second game now I've seen where a scrum in the last 5 mins has killed the match.
