Do any Man Utd fans actually live in Manchester?

(serious question - what % of Manchester are blue/red?)

I'm not sure how you could get accurate figures on that but if you wanted an indication of the balance, you'd only have to listen to Talksport and clock the accents when the relevant fans phone in to discuss their club. I'm well aware of the cliche but sometimes cliche's and stereotypes exist because they accurately reflect facts and this is one of them.

Off the top of my head, I'd say around four out of every City fan I've heard on Talksport has had a North Western accent. United? Irish, Southern England, South West, I've even just heard a fucking Brummie for God's sake but I suppose you can forgive Devon, Cornwall and Birmingham because they've got no decent top class teams to follow there:wasnme

I'd put the North West accents for United fans at around 40% at best (give it a listen for yourself, it's comical how some of the cunts actually try to sound like Mancs - I shit you not:lol).

Not scientific, I know. I'd be interested to hear how the people who live there see it.

Again this is not bullshit, a woman at work today said she'd had to watch Sky on Sunday on wanted to know why most of the fans that Sky interviewed were Irish. I switched off straight after the game and didn't see anything post match or any of the news features on Skysports afterwards myself but some of you may have done,

Now I'm a cynical chap myself and I'm not entirely convinced that some cunt within sky doesn't do this on purpose to reinforce the idea that all United fans are from elsewhere but it is true that if you see the fans interviewed, the manc accents are usually outnumbered by the rest.

and, finally, I'm not really sure why it matters if they from outside Manchester or not to be honest. Putting aside the fact that Slick has to live with the cunts that do and has to take more stick with regard to local fan rivalry than any other team on the planet with the possible exception of Athletico Matrid fans.:lol

Even Spurs and Everton have had their days in the sun, although Everton would probably be second on that list when it came to taking shit off their bitterest rivals.

When you're measuring how much this means to City fans you really have to take all the shit that they've taken over a prolonged period. Think about it, City have been so shit that United have had to form bitter rivalries with Liverpool, Arsenal (latterly Barca) and even fucking Leeds for God's sake, because City were so far beneath them as to be not worth even taking into consideration.

Last point - Who'd like to be in Aldershot's boots tonight?:lol

Meant that to be a more global 'not this shit again' type comment but yours was the last post I read and automatically typed ODM on the end of it. Force of habit methinks. :lol

However, it still amazes me how people twist the facts or ignore logic to support this myth.
Plus the media-driven over-reaction today has been fucking hilarious. It's actually brightened up a really shit day! :lol

    Ermmmm..........no. :embarassed

By the way, can we just call it a 1-0 defeat as the other goals were scored when you had an extra player.
Rather unfair don't you think? Please slick, please. :hissyfit

May as well call it 0-0 as the first goal was scored when that useless cunt Evans was on the pitch

No. Gone are the days when people supported the team that they live nearest to. In fact, those days are decades past. To some people football teams are just like their favourite band. You don't have to come from Manchester to follow Oasis - same with football.

Personally,I've got no respect for the glory hunting cunts but it's a fact and it's something that can never be reversed.

I don't think you can compare liking a band with supporting a football club.

    I can and I will.

Don't be fooled that because you care passionately about your club that everyone feels the same depth of feeling - they don't. I've seen fans in replica shirts (go on, I'll say it - United fans) watching them on the big screen in the pub in important games - The most important of important games - watching them lose and then ten minutes later they've turned away from the screen and they're laughing and joking with each other. I look at them and think "wankers - you aren't football fans - you don't give a flying fuck or you'd be hurting right now".

It seems to me that half the cunts who go to football nowadays don't really care deep down. It's worse with the big clubs because a lot of the wankers who wear the shirts just do it so that they can take the piss out of people at work when they're winning nearly every week and teams like yours and mine...well. just aren't.

And don't even get me started on some of the women who go to matches. Not all by a long way, but a good many of them. I know it's a sexist thing to say but some of them look bored to fucking death and I'm sure they're only there to get out of doing the washing.

Not sure about the women bit :unsure not sure I want to comment.....

Different generations innit. Most of us are of the generation of Liverpool, & within our circles there will be a fair few Liverpool fans due to their success in that era. I've never subscribed to it tbh but in a way I suppose I can understand it, or I can if in the persons area there isn't a decent team to support.
I'm Villa through & through, & I believe I would have been even though I started into football as we hit our highest hour, & I believe thats backed up by the soft spot I have for Wolves, Albion & particularly Walsall. By soft spot I mean I don't mind them winning.
But....& Punter might struggle with this, i do have a begrudging admiration for Liverpool out of everyone else. I have been outspoken about them occasionally, but generally I don't mind them & I respect their fans. I would like to think that I would still have turned out Villa without the 1980-3 period, as to me it is my home club, but I'm not certain I can say it for certain.

It seems more a 'today' thing than anything else I reckon. Playing cricket with younger players, they support United, Arsenal.....never Chelsea though have you noticed :unsure.....for reasons that are simple, they've won something recently (Arsenal ?) I'm with Seen & believe in the home grown approach, I cant agree with the glory hunting.

Also, without wanting to sound racist here, you only see Asian & Chinese fans at united 7 not much anywhere else, unless City are getting them through the money now as well.

I don't begrudge City their moment in the sun. i worry about the future for them but they wont care about that at the moment.

My moneys on united though, for one reason.....Newcastle

From what I have seen during my trips to Manchester, I would say most mancs are reds, Slick may correct me on that, but that is how it always seems to me, Local Taxi drivers, Bar & Hotel staff etc. City have a big eastern European imigrant following, Poles, Latvians etc, Huns from Glasgow also seem to turn up at the council house, this is not surprising as traditionally the Irish associate with United. City also have a large following from Stockport.

I resent ODM's comment that United fans from outside Manchester are glory hunters, Reasons I follow them.....when I started Frank Stapelton, Kevin Moran, Paul McGrath & Ashley Grimes were in the team, that was a good reason for an Irish lad to have an interest in them. Those were the days too when Liverpool, Notts Forest & Villa were winning European Cups! Glory hunters in my book are grown up men here in Ireland, going around with Chelsea & Man City shirts....where were they when they were shite!

As this is a betting forum with many experts on football and betting.....if Man City are now so brilliant and its the begining on the end for United, etc, etc, can the City fans explain why the Champ19ns are not out to 4/1 or 11/2 for the title? hmmm very strange, a team that is apparently so rubbish and just got trashed at home by the new title contenders, are still at a skinny price of around 7/4???:thinking

Not that I really care what you resent but I did say I could understand people with no decent local football team wanting to follow somebody. You can't expect some poor bastard in Cornwall to have no interest in the a decent level of football just because he has no local team in it. The same goes for ireland in that respect. Just strange that out of all the fifty teams or whatever that have graced the Prem in the last twenty years or so, that 80% of the Irish fans you hear about seem to choose the two most successful English teams ever.

Must be the geography I reckon. Couldn't be the fact that they're glory hunters.

I'm not saying I agree with it. I hate it but I'm saying it's the way football is now and has been for a while. If it's a global game and you've got people in India and China sitting watching live premier games in their Man United shirts, how can you say that someone who lives a hundred miles away shouldn't be doing the same thing?

In not too many years, our view on local loyalty will just be a quaint tale of the old days that grandads tell their grandkids about.
