UKRAINE: TVORCHI - Heart Of Steel

Like last year politics are involved in this song no matter how it sounds.
If Sympathy is still in peoples minds then Ukraine will do well come what may.
The song itself is nothing special, it actually sounds like a funeral march which I suppose is pretty apt considering what is going on there, the visuals on the other hand are stunning and tell their own story.
In a normal climate this song would do well to finish top 10, in the current climate it's probably nailed on to finish top 3 or win the event.

NORWAY: Alessandra - Queen of Kings

Again pretty much par for the course, I can't say I've heard anything yet that's blown me away.
These warrior type women are becoming quite regular now and a bit dull , more so as I have to come home to one every day:lol
Nah, out of respect and fear I listened to that again as I was typing most of the time through it and it's still shite,
It shows how bad the field is this year as the song is so far up the betting.

GERMANY: Lord of the Lost - Blood & Glitter

OOoh, sounded a bit like nine inch nails then, now he's morphing into Bowie, hold on; now it's Lordi.
This fellas good, very good, this has it, this has everything needed to be a winner.
This has blown everything out of the water by a country mile and now my firm favourite.

    LITHUANIA: Monika Linkytė - Stay

This ain't bad either, has a bit of an African beat when it gets going and i like it.
I also liked it the other year when the Dutch used a similar African beat but the song did absolutely nothing so I'm not falling for that again.
I enjoyed that and hopefully the song does a lot better than those odds suggest.

    ISRAEL: Noa Kirel - Unicorn

    Hey up it's Laura Croft.
I can see why this is popular as it's catchy but she seems to be singing down her nose which is beginning to grate.
HOLD ON......I'll give her that, she can dance:eek which will probably garner lots of votes but that could also work the other way as women , particularly the jealous ones:baby who will tell her where to go, or threaten their other halves daring to vote for her.
I'm probably trying to say for as much as I'd like to vote for her she isn't getting my vote for reasons beyond my control:lol

SLOVENIA: Joker Out - Carpe Diem

'Carpe Diem' means 'seize the day', I learnt that watching an episode of 'Still game' with Methadone Mick:lol
I'll be very surprised if this song seizes the day as it's very bland and boring, I'll give this a wide berth me thinks.

CROATIA: Let 3 - Mama ŠČ!

WTF's this:thinking, It looks like a gay pantomine.
:lol Wow, this is mad, It's like a very camp 'Dads Army', no tell a lie.
I've read it wrong, it's more a Baltic 'Village people', this is great:lol.
Now one of them is wondering around the stage with a couple of ballistic misslies, forcing the others to strip for some unknown reason lol,

Oh Man:lol:lol, probably the maddest thing I've seen at Eurovision, this is everything the Finish act tried to be but failed miserably, I love this, defo top 10 and hopefully more:lol

UNITED KINGDOM: Mae Muller - I Wrote A Song

Run of the mill and bang average, as usual no bastard chance.

Well done for making it to the end slick - truly a terrible year :sleep I think the juries might kill your Germany before they can even get going, but lets see. Agree with you that Italy is underrated. Should go well with juries, just a question of whether it can hang on in the televote.

Yeah, I've just gone each way on Italy too, I did it to three places @66/1, I maybe should have gone to 6 places for around half those odds.

    Israel win @ 55.0
    Israel top 5 @ 1.83
    Slovenia top 10 @ 4.5
    Slovenia top 5 @ 36.0
    Portugal last place @ 4.5
    Albania last @ 7.5
Austria to make the top 10 @ 3.4
Austria to make the top 5 @ 14.0

Have no idea why I bet on all of these really but I did, did ok on the odds on some and not so ok on others. Israel has shortened a lot so fingers crossed for lightning in a bottle.

Away to get on the drink now, no doubt will put more in play :beer

Gl everyone, pouring one out for both Komp and MickeyPaul tonight as always.

"My lovely Unicorn, my lovely Unicorn". I mean she doesn't actually sing that but I wish she did.

GL Jez - will join you in one for Komp and Mick, probably when Croatia are on as that's the sort of barmy shit they would be loving - Komp would be talking about how the Slovenian grannies would be dancing round their living rooms to it... :dance

I lumped on Latvia in 2008 because of Komp loving it. Came nowhere, no regrets.

    Yeah, that was shite again.
It's turning into a bit of a farce as it's a done deal before the comp begins.

Italy getting pushed out to 4th at the death by Israel pissed me off to:lol
It was coming though because the bookies had them in place way before it happened.

Nice catch on Israel atleast Jez. I got a little fortunate, Italy 4th and Czechs 10th, and France missing top 10. There was nothing in it between the songs from 15-10...10pts in it. Fine margins.

Overall the contest for the win panned out somewhat as predicted, both with juries and televotes, making the winner market slightly dull. I do wonder if the proliferation of stats makes the contest much less exciting as a betting market from now on.

So unlucky on that one slick - I had additional top 3 bets on them. Just 12 points between them - one or two jury votes in it.

Some of the jury scoring was a shambles - Australia getting some random 12s from Portugal and Iceland. Supposed to be judging on vocals ffs :lol
