I'm hoping to find some winners over the next few weeks following this trainer, he's made it clear that his runners are all needing their first run of the season, so I'll be backing them on their 2nd start (and maybe 3rd) in the hope that their seasonal debuts have brought them on bundles.

He's had 17 runners so far this season, and 16 of them were making their seasonal debuts - all have lost. The only one to have ran twice had no chance at 80/1 in a hot Kempton race.

His horses are all running well enough first time up to think they'll be ready next time, so fingers crossed for some winners.

4.35 Bath - RING OF LIGHT

This one won his last 3 races in 2022 but was off for 17 months before reappearing at Windsor last month. He ran really well in 5th, clearly in need of the outing after 523 days off and should be spot on today. He's game in the finish and should go well.

7/1 with the bookies, 8/1 on the exchanges.

RING OF LIGHT ran very disappointingly, a well held 5th. I can only presume that either the race came too quickly after his comeback run or that he hated the rain-softened ground.

Hope they don't all run like this :p

Next Henry Candy runner runs on Saturday afternoon...

    2.55 Nottingham - TIGER BAY

Hopefully this one will run better than the one on Monday, but I'm sure it will. In fact, it looks like having a big chance here, although there are no prices up yet.

After her debut run she was campaigned over 7f and a mile, but presumably they feel she wasn't getting home and she reappeared over 6f at WIndsor. She ran a cracker to be 2nd beaten only a neck, faring best of the prominent runners and pulling 2.5 lengths clear of the 3rd home.

The form looks solid and has been strongly franked already with both the 4th and the 6th coming out to win next time out, so everything looks in place for a big run being kept at 6f - the more galloping track will probably suit better too. I doubt she'll be a big price though but we'll see.

Incidentally, the 3rd home in that race (CHAMPAGNE SARAH) also runs on Saturday in the 4.55 at Ascot so might be worth a bet too.

TIGER BAY is only 11/10 but looks to have a big chance.

CHAMPAGNE SARAH is 12/1 and worth a bet but won't count towards the Henry Candy P&L.

TIGER BAY was heavily backed all day and went off as the 11/10 fav but could only manage 2nd. Disappointing on the face of it but the winner (CRAZY LUCK) had come right down the weights and can probably follow up.

CHAMPAGNE SARAH also was well backed (SP 15/2) and ran a cracker, finishing 3rd of 26 and 'winning' her group but narrowly beaten by two who raced down the stands side. She is also worth another chance.

Henry Candy had a runner last Thursday, which I missed. Incredibly it didn't win ('cos they always seem to when you miss them, don't they?!). SAN FRANCISCO BAY, finished a well beaten 4th @ 8/1.

So 0/3 so far for these qualifiers, maybe I'm wrong that his runners are about to hit form but I'll keep going for a bit longer.

Yeah, was just about to post this, mate. Hope the fucker runs better than his last few :p

Won his first 2 races last season before a good run from a bad draw at Newmarket. Was badly drawn again on his reappearance (again at Newmarket) yet ran a cracker to finish 4th on his first try at 7f.

Not sure if he's badly drawn again here (stall 10 of 12) but he should run well.

    Currently 7.2 at Betfair.

Nearly missed this one, it's a big price but I have to back it cos it'll win if I don't :D

    3.10 Epsom - TEARS OF A CLOWN - 28/1 bookies, 48.0 Betfair

Won 2nd time out last season, well beaten on reappearance but drops in class today for handicap debut.

Ran so badly it was pulled up in a 5f sprint

Looks like I got this one wrong (apologies to any of you who have backed these), will try another 2 or 3 before sacking it off. No doubt the yard will hit form as soon as I do!

Henry Candy has 3 entries today, the first is an unraced 2yo but the 2nd runner is a qualifier. The 3rd runner qualified last time and ran shite but I think he hated the rain-softened ground, so I'm prepared to give him another chance.

    upload_2024-6-3_14-30-18.png

    7.15 Windsor - HIGH SPIRITED - 6/1 bookies, 7.6 Betfair

    8.45 Windsor - RING OF LIGHT - 14/1 bookies, 15.5 Betfair

Singles and an ew double, if these run shite I'm sacking this off :p

Both ran well and not beaten far, but unfortunately not well enough.

    3rd 5/1
    4th 16/1
