What I think are great looking bets.

    First Divsion
Athlone Town V SD Galway 7.45 3rd Mar

SD draw no bet @11/8 bet victor
SD & draw double chance @ 4/5 bwin

SD Galway have played 4 pre season games against premier division teams.
    Lost 1, Drew 1, Won 2.

Lost 1 nil to Sligo from a pen.

    Drew 2 all with UCD

    Won 4.2 Against Drogheda
    Won 2.1 against Cork City

That’s some form going into there 1st league game.
Can back them to win @ 13/5 bwin but other 2 options are the safe bets.

Looking forward to this league starting, although I don't know much about it. Thinking antepost, the few previews I've managed to find suggest the Winner will be either Shamrock (likely), or Sligo (less likely).

    What d'you reckon, Dec?

Have Sligo backed myself since early January, but they have lost there manager to Accrington Stanley a few weeks ago.
They have appointed Ian Baraclough today a former Scunthorpe United manager. Don’t know much else about him yet but would think he has no idea about Irish football. Shamrock lost their manager as well but have replaced him with Stephen Kenny one of the better managers in the league with a proven record in the league. Think shamrock will win it now myself. Would be a very big surprise if anyone else won it.

Baraclough was thrown into the deep end at Scunny in the Championship. Never should have been chosen to take over, a few relatives follow the Iron.

Glad the league is starting again, seen Dundalk play my local side Newry in a friendly on Sunday, Dundalk won 2 nil, they were decent but nothing spectacular as we are playing at a much lower standard. Unsure of how strong a side they put out.

Was about to ask who the hell is SD Galway but searched google and it seems to be Salthill Devon from last season combined almost with relegated Galway United from the Premier League last season? Very interesting if that is the case, they would have a great chance of getting a result.

Backing St Pats this evening at just over Evens against my beloved Dundalk. We've got a completely new team and I think it will be a few weeks before our new players get used to each other.

Pats are pretty strong this year and they should have a bit too much for our very young team. We're a bit light up front as well with Griffin out injured and Quigley and Byrne having left us. Heading up to match now so if Dundalk are winning or drawing with a couple of minutes to go I plan on doing something extreme to ensure match is called off and all bets voided.

    Verdict: St Pats @2.02
