It's a loss of about £60 or so for me on day one, not a complete disaster so hopefully I can pull that back and more as the week goes on.

2 winners & another 3 places leaves me 17% up including a double running on from Quevega to Sizing Europe. Wont bet as heavily after tomorrow for reasons already stated so in a decent position if the aim is for enjoyment & unscathedness :)

1:30 Teaforthree, possibly also looking @ Soll & Harry the Viking

2:05 Cotton Mill, maybe Sous les Cieux

    2:40 bobs Worth

3:20 already got Sizing Europe going on from Quevega

4:00 Tenor Nivernais & Third Intention......though why the first one? Cant remember, must have fitted in the trends & I'd give Venetia one possibly......

    4:40 Kazlian

5:15 Royal Guardsman & Virginia Ash, & will be keeping an eye on the Romford Pele

The fact I've done ok today means avoid these like the plague :unsure

Quite a reasonable first day for me.
Cue Card running well to be 2nd. Rock On Ruby gaining me a small fortune.
Bathazar King doing the biz too.
Quevega also...the first leg in my big win treble ((Sizing Europe & Long Run)
    Roll on tomorrow. :)

Up £45 for the day, first time i think i ever made a profit on day one, usually get wiped out....backed cinders and ashes and overturn e.w @ 28/1.

Main fancies for me for the festival are Finians Rainbow tomorrow and Nobel Prince on Thursday.

A losing day 1 for me but it could have been turned around if this had won by a head instead of being beaten by a head as I decided to put my money where my mouth is at 20/1.

It's all about ifs and buts and it was beaten fair and square but that doesn't make it hut any less:puke

130 My main bet is Allee Garde which I've been on for a week or two and which is drifting in the betting.
Tea for three has jumped to the head of the betting and is worrying me. I'd throw Daffern Seal in as an ew shout at 20/1 for four places with 365.

205 Two of my biggest bets of the week are on JP Ferguson horses and this horses and this is the first of them Cotton Mill. I'm on at 25s and 16s. Also on Monksland and my ew shout is Nelson's Bridge which I've taken at 20/1 (now available at 22/1)

240 I have nothing to add to the discussion on this, it's between Grand Crus and Bobs Worth for me as the market suggests

320 Again, I ain't even bothering after eventing on this one. The only thing I've done today is added to my ew bet of Finians Rainbow. The one for money today is Rialt Dubh at 20/1 if you're the kind of person who can ignore all the hype.

400 Get me out of here and (another JP Ferguson horse) Cape Dutch with Silverhand ew at 16/1 (now 18/1 with vcbet).

440 Minute stakes on this one and I don't see me adding to them. My big bet was another JP Ferguson horse, Creekside, but that's out of the race so I just have a small bet on vendor and and ew bet on Sportsmaster. If the day is going badly I may throw on a bet with Kazilan.

515 My other big bet of the day (and the week) New Year's Eve. Added an ew bet on Horatio Hornblower at 14/1.

Bottom line, if JP Ferguson and JP McManus don't have a winner today, I'm down for the week and, following a losing day yesterday, my well be in a hole that cannot recovered from.

That's the nature of the week I'm afraid.

I really do think that Walkon has a very good chance of placing here. Had a tickle on Join Together too.:)

There are three in the Coral Cup I have been pondering over.
A point each to place on Tenor Nivernais & Cape Dutch. 2 points to place on Saphir River.
I got the 2.40 all wrong. Walkon faded near the end.
Is Sizing Europe going to romp home? Hope so. Done a place on Finnian's Rainbow too.

That was a great result for me as I had it on b/f @ 85.0 (bfsp 55.32
    The big e/w double = 1st 2/1 (9/4) ...3rd 3/1 (7/2)
Big treble went down with Sizing Europe :(

In the Bumper I have 2 to place. Cool George & Royal Guardsman.

Today was dire for me with, made worse by every horse I had a straight win on getting a place but failing to do the buisness.I'm not about 50% down on total stakes over the 2 days.

Had teaforthree, followed by Cotton Mill which headbutted the railings, followed by by Bobs Worth, as I memorably proclaimed in front of about 500 people 'Grans Crus has no chance, its dog meat' !!
I remain convinced that if racing had a flag system like F1 then Sizing Europe wouldnt have been aimed at the fence that Geratghy boxed him into & would have held on, costing me, between them, a small fortune. Free day though, cant moan, up for the week

Reading through my post yesterday you could be forgiven for thinking that I might have made a little bit of profit on the day. Nope, down on day 1 and down again on day 2. Oh well.

Day three's donations to the bookmakers charity are:
130 Sir Des Champs 10/1 ew
205 Our Father was my antepost bet but I've made my biggest bet and ew on Catch Me at 12/1
240 Rubi Light ew 10/1 Great Endeavour ew 10/1 (now 12/1)
320 I'm in way, way too big ew on Oscar Whisky and the price is going the wrong way for me to lay before the off so I'm hoping it runs well and the price drops low enough to get some back on the lay.
400 Divers ew 12/1. ew finger on the pulse ew 40/1
440 Most of my antepost selections have dropped out of this race but I am left with a decent price on the fav Sunnyhill Boy at 10/1 and I've also added Summary Justice ew at 14/1.

Going out for a couple of hours very soon.
    I have done 2x e/w doubles.
    1.30 Sir Des Champs
    2.40 Noble Prince & Medermit
Largish place bet on Medermit too.

The Kim Muir is a bit of a headscratcher. Will probably do Faasel to place when I return.
