Thomas Schaaf gone odds on after talks yesterday & more today. Some bookies only have him just below evens though so it might not be certain yet

I fully expected to get in tonight & find him appointed, schaaf that is :unsure

I can't believe Dave Jones was ever in the running with his recent pedigree, plus the small matter of having managed Wolves. not a reason in itself but hasn't he just been sacked by Sheff Weds? There'd be fucking uproar!!

Hard to see Big Sam coming back from that :unsure fuck me, a combination of Jesus & Arnie might struggle.....

When your away fans turn on you, it's the end. Anyone with money on anyone other than Sam to go next needs to seriously consider hiring a hitman before 8am for whoever they've backed

Well, tonight has seen my book quickly go from looking pretty good to looking fucking awful  Schaaf was a good winner for me (+£120) when odds-on this morning but his odds obviously shot out as soon as twitter announced he was out of the running. I tried to salvage a few quid by laying him between 15.0 and 29.0 only for the cunt to come back in to around 7.0, and he was now a big loser (-£344). That's too big a liability for me on a market where I'm supposed to be just dicking about, so I've had to bite the bullet and back him back at 9.4, but he still loses plenty :ohwell

Now that is one truly awful book. My only real hope is if one of my winners suddenly collapses (in the betting, not literally :lol) so I can salvage some liability. I'll probably wake up in the morning to see one of the -£244's as the new fav. Bah.

I'm guessing you'll take that Seen?

I'd never heard of him until this market came up.

I lost £55 on him in the end :ohwell

Traded a bit more when he shortened up, I had to really as a way of damage limitation. It's easy in hindsight but he could easily have gone odds-on and then bounced right out again - that's the kind of market it was. I was a bit unlucky as I was on Betfair as he started to shorten, I managed to lay 5/2 while he was still 4/1 at a couple of bookies, I quickly tried to get £40 on at that price but they shortened him in to 9/4 as I requested the bet. I could have traded nicely with that and probably broke even.

In the end, just glad to get away with not losing a lot more. That's the first 'next manager' market I've ballsed up and it'll be the last - lesson learned. With hindsight I should have layed Schaaf when he was odds-on to make him a small loser rather than a nice winner, then hoped that he bounced right out (like he did) to give an easy trade. That's how I usually play it. I need to stop leaving bets in when I'm not there to manage it too, threw away a few quid doing that too.

I might be wrong but each time they got close to offering it the problem was support staff, as Albion didn't want to pay compensation for 'add-ons' as it were. Maybe they eased on that in the end once they realised they weren't getting anywhere

I hadn't heard of him either and unlucky Seen, when I see you posting up those Betfair pages I just presume you're onto a winner as usual.

    Next.......Big Sam or Hughton?

Lamberts in the middle of them both, price wise. I don't think you can back anyone but Sam....mind you, scrap a win saturday......can't see it mind.
Not too sure Hughton's helping himself by saying those 2 twins he's got playing have to wear different coloured boots so he can tell them apart :unsure good job he's not white....

It's a shame players don't all have a different number on their shirt so you know who's who, isn't it?

I was going to mention Lambert but while Villa are mid table I'd say he's got a few weeks left him in yet.
Big sam I'd say is definitely favourite but the two Jewish fella's keep singing his praises, I think they know they are doomed with the squad they have but if the worst happens then there's nobody better qualified to bring them back up than Alladyce, call it Gold prospecting:naughty

I like Hughton but he's had more life's than a cat at Norwich, if they drop into the relegation zone like I expect then I can see some changes because if Norwich drop down into the Championship I don't see anyway back up for a long time to come.

I think we'll find Villa will do ok in the games that matter.

I don't think Villa are in trouble personally, as I think we're stronger than last year, & it's a weaker division. There's a few turning on Lambert though.....
Don't think there's any value in the market with Big Sam in that situation. As votes of confidence go it was a good one but when the away fans turn on you on the fucking 8th of January I can't seem him making it until the end

i've got a sneaking feeling for backing Hughes & Meelunsteen once Sam's sorted. Too much easy experience to fall back on at Fulham. I mean, 6 goals in a half at Hull :unsure

Should have had the courage of my convictions & backed Meulensteen anyway :unsure He's in trouble. you can't concede 6 in 45 minutes at Hull & then 4 at home to the bottom club & not be in trouble
