Did Villa just win the FA Cup there or summat? Dinlo's on the pitch.

Class the way they respected Jeff Astle, but what some nobs at the end there.

    I have to agree Punt.

It should be a memorable day for us - but now it isn't

Was a shame mate, cause that was a cracking atmosphere there today. Villa Park rammed, loud and proud and a result to be ecstatic about.

I would love to laugh along - but he is only doing his job of work and should be expected to do it without being fearful for his safety.

The same for all the WBA players

They should all feel safe on the pitch - their place of work

The Villa fans invading the pitch is just unacceptable in making these professionals uncomfortable in their line of work

Sorry Punt - not having a go at you.

Just feel troubled at how my team looked today on national tv

So, is Sherwood winning you over yet, Colbro? :)

Is managing Villa a more attractive idea than managing Midlesborough RC :naughty

    Seriously though

Sherwood may be a whole lot smarter than he presents himself as - and his strength may well be that he keeps things simple.

He has assembled a good back room team and is more than just a simple 4-4-2 merchant as I feared .

But so far all he has done is beat WBA twice (which of course in the west midlands gives him large amounts of brownie points)

And then Sunderland - and with aplogies to Seen - but gee how spineless were they against us.

O'shea - Brown - Van Arnholt etc were a total disgrace to the red and white shirt.

I quite like Sunderland and therefore don't like to gloat when we beat them - but I hope their players show more respect for their shirt in the next few games

Having said that - I hope Sherwood keeps giving me whole dollops of humble pie to eat

Not sure, ask me at the end of the season :wasnme

To an unemployed manager, possibly. To a manager already occupying the Middlesbrough job I'd still say probably not.

As for "only" beating West Brom twice, don't knock that as an achievement - in 13 games under Pulis, Spurs are the only other team apart from Villa to have beaten them.

Still no idea whether he'll prove to be the right choice for Villa in the long term, but the only point I was making was how ridiculous it was to be writing him off and wanting him sacked after just 1 game (by the same token, it would've been just as ridiculous to be hailing him as the new saviour and wanting him given an extended 5 year contract if he'd got off to a good start).

:lol No need to apologise, mate - I gave up going to the matches years ago, a man can only take so much embarrassment. Obviously I want them to do well but there's been something seriously wrong with the whole club for a long time now, I think we've had 6 managers in the last 7 years or something, it seems like it doesn't matter who we get in, they're destined to fail.

It's the fans I feel sorry for, there was 45,746 at the game on Saturday, which is incredible when you think of the dreadful fare served up by Poyet's lot at the SOL this season (not to mention the fact we are in a relegation battle every single season). We've only won 2 home games this season, are averaging less than a goal per game at home, have the worst home defensive record, have had fewer shots at the opposition and had more shots against us than any other team in the Prem.

We've scored just one goal in our last 6 matches (including v Villa, QPR and Bradford) and have scored more than one goal in a Prem game just once in the last 4 and a half months since Nov 3rd (19 games).

When we were 0-2 at home to QPR last month I saw Ladbrokes were going 16/1 for Poyet to be next manager to leave, I was going to back him but had no money in that account and couldn't be arsed depositing so left it. What a dickhead :giveup I've layed him now at around 1.34 as I think this might be a media over reaction, after Martin O'Neill was sacked the chairman stated he was going to give the next manager more time as sacking managers every 12 months wasn't working, but it does look like his position is untenable now.

The Newcastle fans wasted a small fortune printing out 15,000 SackPardew cards...

...whereas all Sunderland fans needed was a biro and some A4 lined paper...

    Irrational rant warning !!!

I still don't get the love affair with Gary "to be honest with you" Neville

He is supposed to be a breathe of fresh air

But tonight he started off on a game played a while ago and critiscsed Toure and Silva of Man C for a lack of effort, for walking and not sprinting back to help team mates in trouble...

He then went on to the Sunderland Villa game and could have done the same with Brown an O'Shea who showed a similar lack of effort on several occasions. - instead he focussed on other players and his criticism was "what" - too much effort in trying to close down opponents ... :duh

Am I the only one who noticed this ?

I never watch the build up to games Colbro for exactly that reason and usually switch over during half time and when the game finishes, it's the same old same old shite from usually ex Liverpool or United players.
Saying that Neville was right about Yaya if he did say that lol, he's been doing it all season.

Dick Advocaat has announced via Twitter that he is the new Sunderland manager, although this hasn't been confirmed by the club yet.

His odds on Betfair went as short as 1.2 but has bounced out to 1.38. The reason he isn't 1.01 is because for him to be classed as the next Sunderland manager he needs to be announced as a permanent manager or, if he's a temporary/caretaker manager then he has to complete 10 league games before the market is settled.

He has said in his tweets that his appointment is 'initially' until the end of the season, and as Sunderland only have 9 league games to play, he will only be classed as the winner of that market on Betfair if he is still in charge after game one of next season.

Sunderland are said to be wanting to bring in the wally with the brolly for next season, so be careful if you think you're buying money by backing Advocaat.

Betdaq odds have all but disappeared now (less than £2k matched) but it may be worth considering if they re-appear that he only has to be in charge for 8 games to be classed as manager.

Not a great appointment imo Seen, but there again i thought Poyet was going to be a good one.

Advocaat confirmed as manager until end of season, Betfair odds out to 1.88. Those who took 1.2 will be kicking themselves for not reading the rules.

    Nice one Punt

Or at least it helped soften the blow

If its any consolation - I was at wembley yesterday and whilst Liverpool fans normally get loads of stick - the vast majority yesterday were a credit to the club and nearly all congratulated us and said we deserved our win and wished us the best in the final.

Such things never get reported but it needs to be said

Glad you enjoyed your day Colbro :)

I actually wanted you to hold on for the win when you scored the 2nd. We were poor, didn't deserve anything and i needed the money more anyway lol.

I'm obviously a big Villa fan for the final now, tough ask though. Good luck :thumb
