I've taken Plymouth at the general 7/10. I'm usually let down by short priced favourites, but I can't resist opposing Newport, who look like being among the League Two whipping boys this season.

In the National, I've taken Gateshead to win at Guiseley. I got 11/8 but that's gone. Gateshead are better than Aldershot (sadly) and we hammered Guiseley last week. I know football doesn't always work like that, but I do think there's a difference in class between the two.

Blame me if Plymouth dont win this but i'm in total agreement TC. Plymouth are a very good league 2 side, Newport aren't.
I think you've made a great call on the 11/8 chance too.

I've got to mention Gillingham, great price away at Peterborough, but that Bradley Dack, anytime scorer @ 3/1, or even 9/1 first scorer, Paddy Power, looks great value. I swear every time Cristiano Ronaldo scores one, Bradley Dack will score two. Maybe Rcgills can confirm? I'm drunk.
Gills do look value at 9/4 though. League cup is nothing to go by i suppose but Peterborough got humped 1-4 at home to Charlton tonight and that aside, have had a shite start in league 1.

Not sure Punter. I don't think Peterborough are as bad as their start suggests, and I'm not sure we're as good as our start suggests. Wouldn't rule out a Gills win, but I think really most Gills fans would be happy with a point from this one.

As for Dack, he's certainly hit a purple patch at the start of the season, 5 goals already from 5 starts. He's been talked about for a long time at the Gills as a potential star, and this looks like the year he's going to really make his mark. Scored 9 in 42 games last season, not bad for an attacking midfielder, but in his last full season with the youth team before stepping up to the first team he hit 27 goals, so he can be prolific. Not usually our penalty taker, but took one last game, which could go in his favour too. Not sure what'll happen with pens once McDonald is fit again though, he was penalty taker and top scorer last season, has been injured since pre-season but came on as sub at Birmingham in the cup, should be back in the starting lineup soon.

Capable of producing goals from out of nowhere too - team mates may try and run the clock down in the corner, but he's not interested in that (not sure if the link will work directly to that goal, if not, it's at around 1'22)

I'd say 15 goals would be a reasonable target for him for the season, which amounts to about a goal every 3 games, in which case 3/1 is probably value.

One price that certainly does stand out to me on the anytime scorers market is Oshilaja for Gills at 16/1. He's already scored against Sheff Utd, from what I've read we're looking threatening from set pieces this season, and he makes a nuisance of himself in the box. Bet 365 have basically got him as the least likely player on the pitch (barring the keepers) to score, and I really don't think he is.

I've also taken Grimsby to avoid victory at Lincoln (Lincoln/draw double chance, 11/10 Bet365). Grimsby have the better ter4am, but have started with a bit of a stutter and Lincoln are doing okay. Grimsby are rightly favourites, but I simply think they're too short for this one - I'd have Lincoln slightly odds on to get something from this.

It might also be worth looking at team news from Aldershot - star striker Richard Brodie (three goals, two games) limped off list week, and the club are keeping very quiet about whether he'll make today's game. Without him we've looked a bit blunt and I'd make Eastleigh value; with him the price would probably be about right. I'll be there so won't be able to put my money where my mouth is.

Gills 1-0 up, bit of a scramble, but the commentators reckon it was Oshilaja that got it.

In the National today, Aldershot welcome Richard Brodie back from injury. I think the 14/5 a couple of bookies offer on us is a little generous without him; with him I can definitely see some value. Not a 'certain' win, but my price on us is around 2/1, not 15/4.

While I'm on a roll I fancy Wrexham to come away with something in the evening game - both sides have started well but I think Wrexham have a little more class. Paddy's DNB is evens and I've had some.

You're making the National League look a piece of piss, TC.

    Nice one :clap

Thanks Punter, although Wrexham brought me back down to earth. I think I've just been on a lucky streak rather then finding it a piece of piff.
