Not got a lot of time but if anybody is looking for a bit of value (in a 2 horse race) then here is one for you.

I've explained before that in the bowls world there isn't a lot between being a top club bowler and being world champion. It's not like golf where me being a 13 handicapper would not have any chance of beating Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy in matchplay however in bowls this is not the case. Where in bowls this is a more realistic target where a top club player could beat the world number one.

Monday night sees R.Weale 1/5 playing M.Stepney 100/30 (skybet odds). Stepney won the Scottish indoor singles last year and currently plays in the Scottish international team (Weale plays for welsh team).

Nothing is guaranteed (as we have seen in previous years) but although Weale is a past champion and he has experience of playing on the portable rink (don't think Stepney has played on it before) the odds that sky are offering does not justify that both these players are good bowlers.

Stepney at 100/30 is big. Nearer the time they may offer a handicap bet which will also be worth while looking at.

Bumping this thread for this years championships which have started.

I've not played bowls for a few years now but still keep an eye out for results etc.

Alex 'Tattie' Marshall is playing decent bowls at the moment and is worth a bet to win the World this years. Odds are about 15/2.

I spoke to one of my pals who won a tournament with him last month and he said he is playing well. Worth a wee punt.

John McCrorie plays David Gourlay tomorrow in the world bowls and is worth a fiver at 4/1.

Gourlay got beat in pairs semi final at weekend but didn't play well. Just spoke to one of my pals and he says John is playing decent bowls at the moment.

    Cheers Pete.
Yeah spotted it on BBC2, so been watching it in fits and starts because it clashes with Moan's 'The Chase'.
Can't kick off with her about it as I do have free reign with the telly when the footys on.

I'll tell you what, the standard has really improved.
I've not watched bowls proper for years but this current lot; men and women included can land the bowl on a sixpence.
    Some amazing stuff being played.
