Saturday 24th February - Live racing from South Africa along with coverage from Towcester dogs -

10.25 Turffontein - Going with 3 in the opener -

PIUS OIL ( 7th double figure draw in a row, but chance at the weights and enough in recent efforts to give him an EW chance at 25's )
HELIOS ( Nicely bred newcomer who represents the powerful Sean Tarry yard. Top young jockey booked and a big run at 33's would not surprise )
MIGHTY AND MAGIC ( Another Tarry runner who has been gelded since last run. Certainly bred to be better and improvement would not shock at 25's )

Calvin Habib bought HELIOS through with a lovely late run to win. Drift to 40's was a bonus.

11.35 Turffontein - PRINCESS AMEERA - Not unfancied on debut, drop in trip look fine and possible improver at 33's.

12.10 Turffontein - RICH HARVEST and FORGETTEN HERO - RH looks big at 20's ( fair form ) and don't see this price holding. FH is he same price, but is more of a punt as has only had the one run. Big improvement would not surprise.

12.30 Kenilworth - FINE LADY - Much improved last time under this jockey and has more scope than most. Draw a little trick, but enough going for her at 10's.

12.45 Turffontein - DIVA FAUSTINA - Long standing maiden, but actually quite a useful sort this level and comes here in good form. Tough to back a bit of a professional loser, but enough going for her at 10's.

1.20 Turffontein - SALMON RUN - Might prove a tough race for the grade, but SR comes here in good form, is going over the correct trip and is the trainer's only runner on the card. Do feel the early 20's to be too big.

3.05 Turffontein - BLING BALL and MINNESOTA - Pair of lively outsiders at 16's and 33's respectively.

11.55 Kenilworth - SILVER LEAGUE and TERTON - SL has improved with each of 3 runs to date and has plenty of scope at 10's. TERTON is a massive punt on my behalf at 125's, but has been rested and hopefully will come back stronger.

Master the World 14/1. Awful run last time out but 1st and 2nd in the previous races.

1.15 Kempton - MY CHARITY and EARLSHILL - Have to forgive MC's latest run, but is a potential improver on handicap debut at 12's. Earlshill was 5/2 last start, but again ran badly. As with MC, makes handicap debut today and does not look over - burdened at 20's.

1.30 Lingfield - DARK CROCODILE - Backed this one on debut when 4th at 50's and happy to go in again today at 12's.

2.55 Fairyhouse - FINE THEATRE and BRAVE OUT - Gone with a couple of useful sorts off low weights and 10's and 14's repectively.

4.45 Kempton - SATURDAYNIGHTFEVER - Nicely bred sort, who has showed ability in both starts to date. Does need to improve for those, but the slightly softer ground may aid at 11's.

5.20 Chepstow - SUPREMELY LUCKY - Makes Bumper debut having finished 2nd in his last Point and joins a stable that does well in Bumpers. Been on the drift most of the day and cannot ignore at 18's

Couple of places over in South Africa and can make a strong argument that both should have won. DARK CROCODILE ran another nice race for 2nd and SUPREMELY LUCKY won his Bumper nicely. As stated above was on the drift all day and indeed opened on course at 20's. Weirdly was backed into 7's and to be fair won with a bit to spare

6.45 Wolverhampton - LITTLE AMBITIOUS and ALIZEE JAVILEX - Going with 2 jumps bred sorts in this 12f contest. Not over keen on the top 3 in the market at the prices and both these have showed ability at 20's and 40's respectively.

    3 more for Wolverhampton -

7.45 - FELISA - Consistent front-runner who went close last time and decent chance again this field at 10's.

8.45 - SPOKEN WORDS - Not the most consistent and whilst a 2nd last time would usually be encouraging, not so much with this one. Does at least confirm the ability to still be there at 9 and just could not ignore at 40's.

9.15 - PIPERS PIPING - Rob Hornby back on this one and has coaxed some decent efforts out of him. 12yo now so would take a good effort to win this, but happy taking that chance at 50's

Sunday 25th February - Starting early for Sunday's bets, but definitely not getting up to watch -

5.30 Sha Tin - LE PANACHE - Placed three times this season and remains in decent form. Step back up to 10f a big plus, has a good draw and looks a fair EW shout at 12's.

6.00 Sha Tin - MANAGEMENT STAR - Ran OK from a wide draw on debut and looks a possible improver at 25's

11.10 Greyville - BASE RUNNER - Best run of 4 gives him a fair chance and hopefully been freshened up by the short break at 25's.

11.45 Greyville - ANADOR - Only hinted at ability in 3 3 starts to date, but tries the poly for the first time and is bred to go on the surface at 50's

12.55 Greyville - TEXAS SKY - Fair performer this level and makes stable debut today. Hopefully the change of scenary can eke out improvement at 16's.

3.15 Greyville - SHADOW HUNTER - Incomodation looks the sensible one at 5's, so adding it for the Forecast. SH is basically a massive punt, but is nicely bred and showed a bit more last time from a poor draw. Nicely berthed today though and do feel he will improve at 66's

1.40 Naas - REVELYN PLEASURE - Soundly beaten in two bumpers last season, but made encouraging start to his hurdle career last time and can improve again at 25's. Half of the field are available at huge prices and for me, SHANTOU SISU is the most likely " super rag " at 250's.

5.15 Naas - MADERA EXPRESS - Probably going to end up another Mullins v Elliott Bumper duel, but ME is nicely bred and the stable also does well in this sphere, so could not resist at 66's.

1.30 Greyville - Trio of EW shots, plus FC / TC with these -

HEART OF A LEGEND ( Capable on a going day and has the plum draw at 12's )
SONG OF MITU ( Decent handicap debut and should have more to offer at 16's )
ROSE OF PERU ( Poor draw last time and capable of better at 25's )

    Monday 26th February -

1.50 Flamingo Park - AUTUMN ENCORE and BALCOURT CASTLE - Inconsistent is probably being kind to AE, as only has 2 good runs from last 12. One of those was 2 ago and if reproducing that run over this track & trip, would have a big chance at 12's. BC is now down to a basement mark and would need plenty of improvement. Good young jockey takes the ride for the first time however and is nicely drawn, so a revival would not be a complete shock at 40's

2.25 Flamingo Park - Fancy a few here and ratcheting up the coast a bit by going straight win on all, along with the combination FC / TC -

CLARET CUP ( Has speed and makes track debut at 10's )
GOLD CHEST ( Banking on last time being an aberration at 18's )
GIVEMEHOPE ( Back foo a break, though does possess plenty of form at this level. Money around at 10's )
CALL TO BATTLE ( Remains in good form and last couple suggest he can be competitive off this sort of mark at 12's )

3.35 Plumpton - ZEN MASTER - Best form on the ground, made all in 2m maiden in the autumn and may try something similar today at 12's

5.15 Plumpton - PORT ROYALE - Nicely bred newcomer and the stable does well in this sphere and can get one ready at 10's

    Tuesday 27th February

4.00 Lingfield - POYLE THOMAS - Cheekpieces return and drops into a 70 rated handicap today. Anything like his old form has him going close at 10's

Thursday 1st March - Down to just the UAE and South Africa today -

10.40 Vaal - Going with 3 in this workriders event -

CHIARA ( Lightly raced, improved last time and has one of the better jockeys aboard at 16's )
PETITE AIME ( First real signs of ability last time and hopefully can build on that at 25's )
OLD OAK ( Back down to 7f and this looks right as has been fading late over further. Right trip gives him a squeak at 66's )
