7 and 9 were beginning to annoy me, and stopping me from getting on with my work, so in an attempt to stop me having to think about them any more, I've Googled the answers :embarassed

No Googling involved for any of the above though, not sure how I got so many, as I'm usually shit at cryptic crosswords :unsure

Well done RC, strangely though you got the hard ones and got stuck on two which I thought were easiest.

The rest of the forum members (save Winrew having a lucky guess) where conspicuous by their absence. The thick cunts :p

For some reason, the shorter the answer, the harder I find it. I was along the right lines for number 7, but should've paid more attention to the "s" at the end of "leaders".

That would be one way of putting it. Another way would be that it's only you, me and Winrew who are sad enough to spend a Saturday night doing cryptic crosswords :lookaround

By the way, which of the 2 is the right answer for number 6? Regal?

Take back a drink fit for a king (5)

    REGAL is the answer

You take drink (LAGER) back to get REGAL

I wouldn't look at it like that. I would say that me and you are really clever, Winrew is a lucky old cunt, and everyone else is dumb.

:thumb Who's gonna be a smart arse and point out it should be "you and I"?
