Race times should be the same for all four days, i.e
Gold Cup. Anyone in their right minds would wait until the week before betting on the Gold Cup because there are so many offers but I am not in my right mind so I've already had three.
The highly unoriginal Might Bite and the more original Our Duke at 9/1 and Djakadam at 33/1
Grand Annual Don't Touch It ew 14/1
Each Way @ 40-1William Hill]
I know talented jockey Harry Cobden who is a good judge thinks this is a lovely horse
I'll be taking two in the Gold Cup, both at each way.
I'm sticking with my early thoughts that the Joseph O'Brien/ JP McManus combination will produce a winner or two and EDWULF was still running on strong when winning the Unibet Irish Gold Cup last month, beating course specialist Outlander by a neck. I'll wait a little longer before placing the bet and the size of the bet will depend on the going, the softer/heavier it is the bigger the bet. It would be some story if he wins this race after being brought back from the dead here, this time last year. Currently priced @ 25/1.
It could be strongly argued that KILLUTAGH VIC would of beaten Edwulf that day but for falling at the last and that's the other i'll be backing. Currently priced @ 10/1.
It's going to be a JPM day!
And you can be sure as hell if it is i'll be on the wrong ones!
A poor week so far and even for using small stakes it's mounting up. I am on bigger stakes tomorrow and if i dont break even i'll be seen about Malvern, hand out, giving it the "Got any spare change love" for the next 3 weeks.
Each way doubles and up...
1.30 Apple's Shakira (E/W 1/4 1-2-3) @ 7/4
2.10 Bleu Et Rouge (E/W 1/4 1-2-3-4) @ 10/1
2.50 Tower Bridge (E/W 1/4 1-2-3) @ 20/1
3.30 Edwulf (E/W 1/4 1-2-3) @ 14/1
4.50 Early Doors (E/W 1/4 1-2-3-4) @ 10/1
Win Singles and a double..
2.50 Tower Bridge @ 18/1
3.30 Edwulf @ 14/1
Native River @ 5/1
I also have a non runner, and 10/1 place going on to Kiltullagh Vic @ 8/1 in an each way Lucky 15 and the same again going on to Edwulf @ 20/1
I was surprised to see Tower Bridge entered here after being declared a non runner overnight on Tuesday. It may want better ground or a little shorter but i've taken a decent bet on him all the same. I'll do the same if he fails here and then goes to Aintree in a few weeks time. Beautifully bred and ran on well last time out over 2m6f.
Obviously wish i'd of taken the 25/1 now but fingers crossed this one and/or Tower Bridge can save me from begging about the streets of Malvern
I agree with you on Tower Bridge's chances Punter. It should be no surprise that it's been aimed at this race rather than one earlier in the week. It has had six runs and won three of them. All three are the ones that didn't feature the word "yielding" in the going description. That's not to say that it won't go on softer ground but even on the little form that we have for it, it looks obvious that it prefers it not too soft and given that the going for Tuesday was soft/heavy in places and the weather forecast indicated that there would be less rain later in the week, it's the right move to run it in this race.
It's obvious that it's progressive which means that nobody knows how much it can improve or when that improvement will come. I also rate the jockey and I think this is an absolute cracking price. I'll be betting with one of the firms that offer four places (22/1). The only slight worry is that the price is drifting. I'd like to see it shorten in the half hour before the race as JP unloads his wallet on it and if that happened, I'd be lumping on.
Clerk of the course has just said that, although the official description is soft, heavy in places, the ground on the hurdles track is close to heavy all round which is bad news for Tower Bridge but whatever happens it's one to watch for the future.
I'm with you on JPM Punter. I was already on Apples Shakira but have piled some more on. I've also backed three of his in the last so if he top and tailed the day I will be in profit.
Believe it or not there are still races that I haven't looked at today but I might as well bung what I have so far as I'm here
130 I start from a good position having laid Redician for this antepost so I'm going in heavy on Apples Shakira with an each way on Farclas. AS will be my biggest bet of the week (although not my most fancied, that was Footpad). I plan to watch the other JP horses in running with a view to getting on if any of them threaten.
210 JPM Bleu et Rouge, Ivanovich Gorbatov and Duca De Thaix ew. Have had a guy shouting about A hare's breath all week but that's 20/1 and the price is not moving. Maybe another to watch in running.
250 I have an antepost bet on Santini and I have also used a betfair free bet double on that and AS in the first to drag me £125 if both of those win (although I will probably lay 10 or 15 quid back if the first one wins). Also on Tower Bridge as we have discussed and Chriss Dream (with faller insurance-free bet if it falls)
Gold Cup. Again I've ended up with a bet on the fav antepost with a straight win bet on Our Duke and an ew bet on Djakadam
410 I'm on two, both antepost bets Wonderful Charm and Sir Jack Yeats which I backed ew at 20/1 and which is now bigger
Nothing yet in the 450 but there are two JPM horses at the 11/1 mark so I will probably just back them ew or insurance bets depending on the price I can get. My brain is frazzled and I've had enough of thinking
Getting out stakes. JPM trio Don't touch it, Le Prezien and Bouvreil. Money for the latter is encouraging.
Good luck everyone. I'd rather be up on the week, obviously, but it's an exciting feeling going into the last day not knowing whether I'm going to be up, down or level at the end of proceedings. It's almost like the first day all over again.
Whoops. You can scrap my initial comment for the 130, I somehow thought that Redician wasn't running in the opener but apparently it is, so I may know my fate on the day very early on
Just put a little bit on the forecast Redician to beat AS in the first as a bit of a saver so my day may not be completely over if AS doesn't win.
Cheers lads , I've had a dabble on Tower bridge using bet365 and it's also given me a free matched bet on the big race (all customers old and new) so I've shoved that on Edwulf.
I've also had a single on Road to respect.
Good luck all.
I've done the same with my free bet Slick - each way
Good luck all.
I've been looking for something to chase APPLES SHAKIRA home and i've taken an each way bet on SUSSEX RANGER @ 25/1. Will love the going and chased home the very well thought of We Have A Dream, in a bog at Chepstow last time. Small stake.
Although i'm already on JP's Bleu et Rouge @ 10/1 in the 2.10, i've also covered his other 3 with small each way bets at big prices.
Ladbrokes price boosted on...
Ivanovich Gorbatov @ 25/1
Le Richebourg @ 35/1
Tigris River @ 60/1
Just joined you on these three @ 14/1, 13/1 & 11/1. Win Only.
Bet Seen’s buttox where squeeking with that 50:1 shot in front in the 210
3.30 - EDWULF at 16's
4.10 - YOUNG HURRICANE at 40's
4.50 - TOMMY RAPPER and BRILLARE MOMENTO at 20's and 33's respectively.
5.30 - DAWN SURVIVOR at 25's
Unlucky with Tower Bridge, lads - would have been 4th maybe even 3rd but for a bad error at the last. A cracking run.
Stinking day for me so far
One to back on better ground as we said earlier
