10.20 Turffontein - CLOTH OF ICE and AMBERGLO STAR - Fair debut from COI and should improve for the step up to a mile. Certainly should improve at 6's. AS ran OK in first 2 career starts, but has done nothing since. Hopefully been freshened up by the break at 66's.

11.55 Turffontein - ROYAL TIGER - Got going late on debut, but not confirmed that promise yet. Fair effort last time however when 5th and looks a chance on that at 14's.

1.05 Turffontein - SARAGON - Has form with a lot of these and comes out well at the weights at 12's.

3.25 Turffontein - JET START - Course specialist, who comes out 2nd best at the weights nd is versatile as regards tactics at 8's.

Win for Cloth of Ice at a drifting 15/2. Paul Peter trained as his is the horse mentioned in the steamers and drifters thread. Not sure there can be that much more money around for him at 2's, but this is a decent sign for anyone on the gamble. Also money for the yards representative in the SA Derby (2.50) with Western Fort 5's from 10's

3.15 Newcastle - RICH BELIEF - Bit to find, but generally consistent, gelded since last start and Hollie Doyle booked at 16's.

3.50 Newcastle - MACHO PRIDE - Stable gets the odd debutante winner and this one looks nicely bred at 20's.

4.20 Lingfield - CAROLINE DALE - May prove to be an above average race, but speedily bred at 16's.

4.30 Newcastle - NOT ON YOUR NELLIE - Wind operation since last seen and did show bit and pieces as a juvenile. Too big for me at 16's.

7.50 Lingfield - ITSAJUNGLEOUTTHERE - Basically the top 3 and name your price the rest. The pick looks nicely enough bred at 80's.

2.15 Turffontein - TILBURY FORT - May prove a bit hot for him, but the Tarry / Hewitson combo is worth backing at 28's.

4.45 Newmarket - Not sure about those at the top of the market, so going EW with the 3 rags along with FC / TC -

    REVICH at 20's
    SIR MAXIMILLION at 25's
    THREE SAINTS BAY at 33's

8.05 Lyon - MANDLEFT - Remains a maiden, but thereabouts recently and well enough handicapped at 4's.

6.40 Lingfield - MADAME PELTIER - Best of 3 efforts in maiden company was her last and looks a potential improver this year at 9's.

Wins for CLOTH OF ICE at 15/2, THE TRADER at 8's, JET START at 9's and MACHO PRIDE at 25's. Couple of slightly disappointing 2nd's ( both looked good for the win in the straight ) for BABY STEPS at 10's and CAROLINE DALE at 20's and 3rd's for MANDLEFT ( for me a poor ride ) at 4's and TWO BLONDES at a massive and drifting 66's. Even with this one there was brief hope for the win and have to say very few ran badly. ROYAL TIGER at 16's should have placed but went very wide on the bend and SARAGON and MADAME PELTIER, both ended up 4th.

ITSAJUNGLEOUTTHERE drifted to 100's on debut and finished a not knocked about 6th ( beaten 3 lengths ) and RAGTIME SALLY only faded late on. Gonna track both and especially interested if Sally drops back to 10f.

9.00 Lingfield - ENZO - Off the boil a bit in 3 starts this year, so needs to have benefitted from the break. Plenty of form last year and the trainer has returned in good nick, so enough going for this one at 6's.

Poor end to the day and will need to see a bit more before backing this one again.
