Will soon be time to take this thread off the shelf and blow the dust off. First day on the turf is 24th March but I'll be looking at some of the young ones on the all weather leading up to that.

No bet for me today but I'll be watching the 145 at Lingfield with great interest. No More Thrills would have been my pick of the race based on its last run where it battled on well on its third start to land the spoils. However, there's an expensive unraced horse called Intense Pleasure in the race and the money is down for it which, in itself would tend me towards caution but in addition to that, James Tate who (as this thread will testify to) I am a great fan of as a trainer, has a horse called Wide Acclaim in the race. It had a decent enough debut finishing 3rd but didn't stand out as one that would be underrated in the betting and looks a pretty straightforward horse to me. I'll be looking at signs in this race that it's going to be an improver.

Intense Pleasure is likely to be the fav at around 2/1 but anything can happen in a first run and I'd prefer to take No More Thrills' relative experience over that at 5/2. However, if I can get 4/5 on Betfair on Wide Acclaim to finish in the top three, that will be where my money goes but it will be one to watch with an eye on upcoming races.

No more thrills goes straight into the tracker. Couldn't have been more wrong about the experience as it had the worst break of the seven and wasted energy trying to catch up. Ran on well to come from 6th to second in the home straight. One to be on the right side of as they say.

    2018 SEASON

I've decided I'm going to start this thread early this year with a few all weather horses. It may fall flat on its face but I'll be backing these things so I may as well get them down and keep track.

Mighty Mac 250 Lingfield. 3 year old with only two races under its belt. Not an impressive debut at Sandown last September but has been gelded since and showed plenty of promise on its all weather debut when not given a hard ride by the excellent Oisin Murphy who also rides him tomorrow. 10pt win at 11/4 and it's staying in the tracker regardless of what happens tomorrow as I'm looking forward to it getting back on turf.

Not for the tracker but others I'm also backing tomorrow are:

Danzey 815 Wolves 10/1 (ew). Dropped 3lbs after a disappointing handicap debut a couple of weeks ago and, coming last of three in the previous race gives little to recommend it on the fact of it but second on its first two races (one of which was at Wolves, where he's at tomorrow). Is either going to be one of those types that always manages to get itself beat or the penny is going to drop. Tomorrow will tell a lot about which way it's going to go.

Liquid 645 Wolves 5/1. Again, a serial loser (one win in 11 at 4/7) but places as often as not so with a hope that Wolves is the place that makes the difference, an each way bet at 5/1 looks worth a shot.

The other one I'm backing for old time's sake is Squire which first went into my tracker in 2015 and who, in its last four runs has finished twice in it's two runs at Kempton but 2nd and 3rd in its runs at Lingfield and Chelmsford, so here's hoping that he's generally in good form but just hates Kempton and worth a speculative each way bet at 8/1.
