Anybody ever worry about it? I don't so much for my lifetime, but it does make me think what world any future grandchild or great grandchild of mine will live in.

I read somewhere yesterday that world population is increasing by 74 million a year. Where or how is it all going to end? I also read some analysts have questioned the substantiality of further world population growth, citing the growing pressures on the environment, global food supplies and energy resources.

Current world population is now estimated to be at 7 Billion, according to the highest estimates world population could be at 16 billion by 2100. Can we or the world cope with that?

Are we going to need a disaster that wipes out a few billion at some point?

I see this today too and it just got me thinking, that's all...

Also, Dubai is a shit example. They've been actively modernising the shit hole in an effort to catch up with real civilisation in an effort to attract outsiders to what is effectively a fucking sand pit.

If anything, that should be an encouragement to you. There's all that extra land where no fucker lives - that's not even starting on those fuck off big hills at the end of your garden plus the big empty wildernesses of Scotland and Cumbria. Fuck me, you could expand the population by 50% per decade and it will still see me and you out.

As for food, I throw more food away per year than is needed to feed the population of the Isle of Wight. That's because by the time it's been frozen for two weeks and got to Tesco it's fucking rancid. Just pop it over to the nearest newly populated area and the job's a good un.

Ive given you a like Punter for this.

Not only cos I owe you a few. Thanks by the way.(Ive always thought you were a decent bloke-though that mayseem like a non-sequitor(sic)).
Or because Ive just come back on here for a short time to 'pay some dues-tie up a few things etc'

But because Ive always been depressed by the ever growing world population.

I could say a bit more but Ive come on here to deal with something else.

Suffice it to say that Im totally with the GREAT Sir David Attenborough on this issue.

(Er,its also why...if I was a voting man....The Green Party is the one for me.Hopefully ODM doesn't read this far:) if at all)

Of course I'm going to read it all Steve..... I mean hotspur. Depressed? Really? A man's could have spent the sixties worrying about a war kicking off in Cuba, the seventies worrying about civil unrest in Britain, the eighties worrrying about the Russians, etc etc etc. If u insist on worrying about something u can't change I'd be better off worrying about the world economy. If it all goes tits up, people will be too busy worrying about starving to think about having kids.

I didn't say I worry about world population ODM.(It depresses me if I think about it so I don't.Unless someone starts a thread about it on a gambling forum:frown)

As far as the economy going tits up is concerned,of course that would mean lower population growth as you imply.

Thats why Im a Green Party supporter-they are in favour of low growth....er,or at least they were the last time I looked at their manifesto:).........and thats also why I hoped you wouldn't notice Id vote for them:).

In fact there IS something I can do about world population.

It is in fact, and I just know you'll agree with this...er,as will others........my greatest 'contribution' to the world/society.

    I didn't have kids:p*

or ,as Steve may have put it,I refrained from engaging a member of the fairer sex for the purposes of reproduction.

    * which is why I don't worry about it

I was just about to watch some porn when I thought of Colbro.

(Theres a sentence I didn't think Id be writing today.Er,or indeed ,any other day:eek:)

Just in case Colbro finds out Im a closet Green and asks me questions like,

"How does voting Green in GB affect population growth in the third world ,Hotspur(sic)?"

My default reply to any such questions is "It of course wouldn't.But then of course my one vote wouldn't make a difference to anything anyway."

Quick Swoops, ask him a direct question. If he "answers it" by posting a link to a story about how much The Queen spends on her corgies, we've got him.:thumb

I wouldn't worry about it too much Punt, Nature will always find a solution in the end to balance things out.
Tell you the truth I'd be more worried about that:lol

    * If the odds are evens that is...

Hell,Id take 1-12 nuclear...except of course there'd be no point.....better to take the 8s natural and hope you survive:unsure

Anyway,i thought there'd been a slough of books in recent years saying that all the doom and gloom vis a vis population growth, etc etc etc was exaggerated and that we will get to 10 billion and then all the poor people will finally start using fucking condoms....

    er,or something like that

That's logical enough. I imagine everyone in Africa picks up the morning paper, checks to see if the world population has reached 10 billion yet and then shouts "It's alright missis, you can put the condoms back in the drawer - we won't be needing them yet"

As soon as I saw the words..."Thats logical enough.."on the home page and that it was ODM writing it i knew it'd be a sarcastic remark....

I would guess that this would be a slower process than my post implied.

Actually the real reason why it would stop is because African men would all have broadband and watch porn all day..

    (I think thats it,yeah:unsure)

....and in case you're thinking/gonna say, well, that'd make them randy all the time and demand more sex...

the answer is yes...theyll all be demanding anal ..

thereby leading to an increase in AIDS (whether they use condoms or not...cos they'll be rough)

and premature deaths etc etc etc

    Now ,as for the Aussies......

Is an increase in AIDS in Africa possible?

Of course, when I say Africa I actually mean Asia where the population explosion is actually occurring.

It was ODM that brought Africa into this and I was just being tactful...
