Following the first 3 races the Jockeys downed tools at Durbanville, with races 4 through 8 now abandoned. A consultation is currently underway between jockeys and the National Horseracing Authority following growing dissatisfaction over fines and penalties. The riders are pushing for fairer regulations and greater transparency in the disciplinary process, with one rider stating that it was a waste of time being a jockey in South Africa. Looks more than a local dispute so it will be interested if there are issues in the 3 main other provinces.
