I'm still getting to grips with this league from a punting viewpoint (in other words, I don't know what I'm talking about).
I like the look of Gateshead, who have lost a handful of players from their play-off squad, but they've got decent enough replacements. They've even paid money for a player which is almost unheard of at this level. I'm not sure about champions, but I'd expect them to make the play-offs in which case BetVic's 7/1 for promotion looks a bit generous and I've had some. Jon Shaw has returned to Gateshead after a difficult couple of seasons at Luton, and if he can get back to the form he had when he was last at the Heed I'd expect him to bang them in, which makes the 40/1 for top goalscorer look a bit generous and I've had some EW (1/4, top 4). The top scorer market looks a bit over the place, with Aldershot's Brett Williams joint favourite. He's good, but I'm not sure he's the best.
Aldershot? Word is our manager has got a mid-table budget. The players we're getting in look a step above what we had last season, but the manager has gone for quality over quantity so we've got a small squad. I'd expect us to start brightly but fade once injuries, suspensions and heavy pitches take their toll unless we get some decent loans in.
Relegation: Macclesfield have money problems, and Dartford looked poor and only stayed up due to reprieves but with only BetVic pricing up relegation markets I'm going to wait before investing in them.
I wish Hereford luck, whatever league they manage to play in. The wild celebrations when they won at Aldershot on the final day must seem like a kick in the teeth now.
