This could be a good time to start opposing Newcastle now Cabaye is on his way out of the Toon.
He is comfortably their best player and chips in with plenty of goals from midfield too, with 7 in just 17 games this season.
Looking at the stats of league games since he joined the mags, there is a massive difference in results when he's played to when he hasn't.
With Cabaye
37-17-27 - 128pts from 81 games - av 1.58 points per game (won 46% of games)
Without Cabaye
6-4-12 - 22pts from 22 games - av 1 point per game (won 27% of games)
Over the course of an average season, 1.58 points per game would see a team finish between 6th and 8th, whereas 1 point per game would see them narrowly avoid relegation, so a huge difference.
Also, the 6 teams Newcastle have managed to beat in the league without Cabaye are...
Blackburn
A Villa
Wigan (twice)
QPR
Fulham
...so 6 poor teams (sorry Swoops but they are ) who all finished in (or are currently in) the bottom 5 in the season Newcastle beat them (4 were teams who were relegated that season and Fulham might become the 5th this time).
Newcastle have some difficult fixtures coming up...
Norwich City (a)
Sunderland (h)
Chelsea (a)
Spurs (h)
...and they've already drifted badly for tonight's game v Norwich (2.44 out to 2.88 at Betfair) following the news Cabaye has been sold.
