Been a while since we've had a full set of midweek Prem fixtures.

Quickly going down the list Sunderland look tempting, on current form the odds look a bit tight but against QPR I suppose you couldn't expect anything else. The main ingredient here is what influence Harry will have on a piss poor QPR team, saying that Sunderland also need to start getting their act together having won only 1 at home all season.
Have to fancy Sunderland but wouldn't be suprised to see a draw now QPR have a new manager, the difference was there to see on Saturday when for around 40 mins at Old Trafford they looked the better team.

I'll be taking some of Villa because thats not a bad price at all, proverbial early 6 pointer I know but Villa have put in some good performances of late and will realise the importance of this game, I just hope the Villa players don't let the pressure get to them now they are in the relegation zone.

Everton v Arsenal looks a tight game but I'll give Everton the slight edge due to them normally going up a gear when playing the 'better' sides at Goodison, plus they are also having a blinding season and full of confidence.
Arsenal look a bit lightweight this season and may well struggle if Everton get it up them like I expect them to.

Usually I wouldn't touch and probably won't touch Stoke at home to a team like Newcastle, but the Magpies seem to be self destructing lately with some very poor performances and won't get much sympathy from a team like Stoke who will be looking to ram home this advantage while it's there.
Newcastle if not careful could soon find themselves struggling for the rest of the season if they don't get out of this dip very soon.

I think only a fool would touch Chelsea at those odds on current form, they seem to have collapsed since the defeat to Man U and Fulham will give them a game.
I still expect Chelsea to win mind but I won't be touching them.

Southampton v Norwich and Swansea v West Brom are probably the closest match ups in this set of fixtures, all of these teams are playing well at the moment and well matched in their respective games.
Too close for me to call.

Can't see either of the Manchester sides having any trouble winning but I've thought that many times this season and been wrong, wouldn't be suprised to see btts in the United v West Ham match though because United have got into a bad habit of conceding early doors in a lot of their games this season.

Spurs v Liverpool stinks of a draw but I have a sneaky suspicion Spurs might just pinch it by the odd goal due to their greater attacking ability, it's also another where I fancy btts.

Interest stakes I've taken Villa & QPR to both win 2-1. I don't particularly rate QPR at all but Sunderland are struggling at the moment & with Cattermole & O'Shea out again I think they're unbackable. I dont see Sunderland being in trouble but, & I'm an MON fan, the magic seems to be wearing thin. Villa game has all the makings of a tight, appalling game of football

No bets for me but i'm almost matched with Slicks thoughts there, and you Swoops with Villa.

I tipped Sunderland at the weekend but got it wrong, i'll call them one last time as i still think they're due one and i dont think the Redknapp appointment will kick in just yet? Having said that i see all the money is in for QPR, being very well supported with just over an hour to go.
I was tempted with an e.w bet on Sessegnon @ 7/1 first scorer but no bet in the end.

I've only been watching the Villa Reading game for 15 minutes. Surely they can't have been this fucking shit for the whole hour before? They should relegate them both right now and save anyone else having to put up with watching this awful fucking football.

1-0 Villa

Sunderland weren't much better m8, I think were going to see the biggest relegation battle in Premiership history this season.
I thought QPR looked a lot better and seemed to have kicked on from Saturday's half decent performance against United.
It's not totally impossible for them to catch up the pack considering so many teams seem to be struggling at the moment.

Sunderland, we are fucking useless, lads - absolutely ZERO creativity in the final third, how many times did our midfielders hit a brick wall and play the ball back to our defenders who then either a) lumped it aimlessly forward for our forwards to lose the aerial challenge or b) passed it back to our keeper who then lumped it aimlessly forward for our forwards to lose the aerial challenge :banghead

One time in the second half a fantastic cross was played in (by Rose I think, who is by far and away our best player and is only on loan) which flew between the defensive line and the keeper, perfect for a player running in....except Sunderland had NO players in the box (3 of the dumb fucks were standing just outside the area).

Big changes needed in Jan. Sessegnon is a fine player but clearly doesn't want to play for the club any more, McClean has been found out good and proper (totally one-footed and every right back simply shows him inside on to his right foot and he's fucked) and midfielders Colback, Cattermole, Larsson, Gardner etc have not a creative bone in their bodies.

Dont mind Cattermole , hes the best of a bad bunch , but why the f**k did he play him last night when he was already injured ?
How long did he last , five minutes for christs sake ..

Cattermole's been one of our best players this season but he's a stopper not a creative player. Playing him last night not fully fit shows how desperate we are at the moment.

Am I right in thinking that John Robertson isnt with MoN at Sunderland. He has been everywhere else, & led the training at Villa whilst MoN watched from afar. Makes you wonder

Does it? Are you suggesting he's the brains behind everything that was good at Villa and Sunderland are shite because he isn't there Swoops? That's how I'm reading that so forgive me if I'm wrong.

If that's the case, it's a theory that has been bandied about many times before. Do you remember a chap called Brian Kidd. I remember rumours about him being the real genius behind the good results when he was a number 2 at United and the real reason for Ferguson's then success. Of course Ferguson's team sank like a stone when Kidd left to become a successful manager.

Or maybe not.

Same rumour with Steve Mclaren at Derby. There dip in form happened to coincide with a rise in United's when he moved there. The obvious conclusion (if you're a really lazy gitt who can't be arsed to actually come up with any original thought) is that he was the man who made everything happen.

I don't think so.

I think it's a solid point he's made there ODM, they both played as team mates under Cloughie and have been a long time partnership in management, since setting out. I'm not saying Robertson was the mastermind or anything close to that but change doesnt always run smooth and can take time. I think it could be a big factor.

So how do we explain how O'neil took over a team who were scoring less than a point a game last season and went on to get 34 points out of the remaining 25 games. That's an average which, over the season, would have seen them alongside LIverpool and Fulham in the top ten. This with a team who were fighting relegation until the day he took over.

If you're right, he won't recover and he'll end up getting the boot and never doing anything in the Prem again. I think it's a tenuous link and I think he'll prove it wrong.

I think a lot of that was down to Mclean who was an unknown quantity, as Seen say's he's been found out now and isn't as effective.

I'm not agreeing that Robertson is the brains as I think O'neil is a good manager but it does make you think.
