South African racing still in a state of shock following the sudden death of jockey Alec Forbes (41) early on Thursday, only a few hours after he rode a winner at Scottsville. Despite feeling ill he carried on with his racing commitments, but his condition worsened and he was admitted to hospital with Pneumonia, which led to organ failure.
Tough to know what to say in such circumstances, but as they say, the show must go on and 2 meetings today, with ATTHERACES offering plenty of live coverage -
11.55 Turffontein - RICHARD LIONHEART - Lightly raced, showed improvement in latest, tries the blinkers and has more scope than most at the early 33's.
12.30 Turffontein - SERENE COUNTESS - Lightly raced, has performed well in all 3 starts to date and don't mind the drop in trip. Solid looking EW at 10's.
1.25 Kenilworth - FLIGHTLY CHESTNUT - Went off 20's on debut ( from 14's ) so was not exactly a rag and does look a possible improver today at the early 50's.
4.00 Turffontein - SHOTGUN RIDER - Moderate looking recent form but has been facing much stronger and continues to drop in the ratings. Blinkers added and upset potential potential at 20's.
