Starting off over in South Africa, with an interesting looking maiden. Not convinced by any of them, but cannot have any of the top 3 in the market at the prices. Going with a trio of outsiders instead -

10:45 Kenilworth -

FIFTY STARS ( Hinted at ability so far and recent break / gelding operation hopefully had the desired effect )
NIGHT SIGN ( Relatively expensive purchase, who has shown very little so far. Certainly should do better and the blinkers can hopefully have a positive effect. Could be anything at 50's )
DUE WEST ( Drifter on debut and never really involved form a poor draw. Represents a top trainer however and presumably capable of better. No luck with the draw again, but only 10 runners, so would still expect more today at 14's )

NIGHT SIGN opened 66's and ran nicely for 3rd. DW was 4th, with FS backed into 7's, but poor. Having another shot in the other South African meeting of the day -

11:10 Turffontein - Couple of win bets and an EW on DC -

MATILDA'S DAUGHTER ( Best of those with a rating. Vulnerable to the once raced horses, but still fair at 7's )
MONARCH AIR ( Poor debut, was followed by 3 solid efforts. Stepped up to a featured contest last time and struggled " against the boys ". Back among her own sex today and this is considerably easier )
DIXIE CHICK ( Poor draw for debut and lost ground at the start. Not a bad effort in the circumstances and certainly bred to do better. Possible " dark horse " at 25's )

1:10 Fairyhouse - MAGISTRAL - Ex John Gosden, who has had 3 runs on the flat for his current yard. These confirmed that he retains plenty of ability and just a question if he takes to hurdles.

1:15 Newbury - CEASAR MILAN - Poor last time on good ground, but all wins have come on soft / heavy. Improved last year on 2nd start, so hopefully can rebound again.

3:40 Doncaster - MULTIPEDE - Trainers record in Bumpers does temper enthusiasm a bit, but does pop up occasionally and do like the look of this debutante on breeding.

7:45 Wolverhampton - JOYFUL DAY - Another debutante, who again has some appeal on breeding. Stable does OK with its juveniles and can get on ready ( 2 from 16 this season ) Obviously risky and would like to see some support at the early 14's/
