11.10 Vaal - STREET FLYER and FULL MAST - Slightly unusual 1500m ( 7f 101y ) trip could prove the key to SF, who likes to run from the front and has been fading over further. Does not mind a battle if joined late on and hopefully can last home at 10's under top young jockey Lyle Hewitson. FM has been rested after a poor last show against stronger, but he had smart form in first four career starts and must be considered in this company, again at 10's.

11.40 Vaal - ECCENTRIC LADY and POKEMAN SHUFFLE - EL showed Improved form in second start and has scope for improvement at 20's. PS also improved latest in an international jockey's race under Frenchman Thierry Tuillez. Young enough to improve again for well respected trainer at 50's.

12.20 Vaal - BRAXTON - Has the gate speed to overcome her wide draw and could try to make all at 7's.

1.00 Vaal - GIVEMEHOPE - Moderate recent form, but better than that and gets the 3lb claim today. Remains lightly raced for a 5yo and should be making an impact off a mark of 57. Early 20's looks big to me.

1.35 Vaal - HIGHWAYEIGHTYFIVE - Fair recent form and in - form jockey takes the ride. Solid EW shout at 10's.

2.10 Vaal - BATTLE CREEK - First effort at 5f for a while and whilst has plenty of speed for 6/7f, may just get taken off his feet here. Wide draw fine however and weighted to make an impact, so happy taking the risks at 25's

Overall a couple of places and an annoying 4th ( 15 runners ) for Battle Creek. Poor day.
