Just wondering how many of you gamble to try and win a life changing amount of money each week?

Just something the wife said last year after i'd had £10 on a 5/2 fav in a 6 horse race that was not only last, but thrashed last.

"WHY THE FUCK DO YOU BOTHER GAMBLING IF YOU CANT WIN A LIFE CHANGING AMOUNT OF MONEY? EH? A TENNER ON A FAVOURITE, WILL THAT SORT THE KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM OUT, WILL IT? EH? TWAT?"

I suppose to a degree she has a point.

She parts with £3 a week, one go on the Euro Millions, one on the national lottery. So that's her dream bought there. I occasionally have £2 on the Euro millions, halves with Ray the TNT driver, but that's it. Apart from that i dont normally gamble to try and win a life changing amount, from a small stake.

Having asked her what would be a life changing amount she came back with £20K, i could do with £8K myself so i've having given it some thought, this is the best i can come up with..

With the £30 a week i'll allow for my gambling this coming season, £6 of it will go on lotto balls. Having looked at the Irish and the 49's i've opted for numbers from The National Lottery Draw, with Betfred.

Saturday and Wednesday, £3 per draw, Bonus Ball Included, 5 numbers.

Bonus ball included odds
2 = 40/1
3 = 375/1
4 = 5000/1
5 = 50,000/1

My bet will be 1 x 10p Canadian + 40p Accumulator.

2 correct returns £4.10
3 correct returns £49.90
4 correct returns £675.10
5 correct returns £27,918.00

Although the odds are against me it's all about luck, i take a little bit of heart knowing i've had 5 from 6 before, a few 4 and 3's too, from when i played years ago.

That's my attempt at trying to win a life changing amount anyway, one fifth of my pot just on the luck of numbers draws. What are you going to be doing? What are you already doing?

I started having a go on the lottery regularly a few months back for the first time in donkeys :unsure does writing books count? Not according to TC it doesnt :lol

I dont try to win that big. Getting 5oo5 would do me which would win me abot £200 notes for my tenner

If you put £10 on a 1.01 shot and then re-bet the entire bank on another 1.01 shot it would take 764 bets to reach 20K. I have not included the commission charge from betfair in that calculation.

Make it 1.02 the number becomes 384.

Be interesting to know which are the longer odds. The lottery or the 1.01 run

If the figures are right there then holy moles you could probably get 384 in a row up would take a few weeks but possible

I like the 1.01, 1.02 bet but i know instantly that i'd shit it at about £600 and cash in.

£600+ is 412 bets at 1.01

207 bets at 1.02. Again not taking commission into account ( and assuming my speadsheet is correct)

Your spreadsheet, you going to be giving it a go Colbro?

:lol
I'm just dreading the day when one of Yorkies wee systems hits it's target.

lol, if your considering doing large amounts of 1.01and 1.02 bets then I have to give Yorkie the credit of Inventing it.

Iv'e had a crack at this before, but attempting to average a 1% return on bank is achievable in my view, although it does get harder when the staking increases. There are situations were you can turn a small profit on sports without any liability, by arbing / trading back.

As ever, not letting greed take over and not dipping into the profit, seem to be the hardest parts.

Average 1% return for 365 days on a £1K bank compounded, returns £37,783, if you can be patient.

Looks easier than backing 1.01 shots.

.

I can see Yorkie struggling with the first one as he does tend to lack discipline. Less of a problem with the second one as he's unlikely to ever have a fucker to dip into.

Writing seems to work if you come up with an unused idea about a boy wizard called Harry. Otherwise, not a hope :cry.

So, my next book is going to be an unused idea about a boy wizard called Harry, provided I can find a publisher who's never heard of anything similar :crossfingers

£6 of it will go on lotto balls.

Just a thought but there are about 90 weeks to the 2014 world cup.

£3 a week between now and then is obv arond £270. A treble on Spain at 5.5 with South Africa to win the 2015 cricket world cup at 5.00 and New Zealand to win the 2015 rugby world cup at 2.5 would come to £18500. (BET365 odds)

I'm not sure about Spain and i know bugger all about cricket and rugy Colbro but good luck to you if you go for it.

I slightly altered my lotto strategy after my post and dropped doubles to bump up any returns from trebles and up. I've had two numbers up 3 times since but no trebles. My day will come though :unsure

:crossfingers
