Odds William Hill
Ive got a big fancy for Accrington at Aldershot this weekend based on just pure facts alone. Can TC or anyone tell me how they feel about this one? They worth a punt at the odds?

thanks.

Hello Komp :)

No bet for me - at least, not at the moment. Accy's manager is apparently talking to Rochdale and I guess might even move on before the game. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7440828/

Also, Aldershot's problem has been in scoring and we've got a creative midfielder on loan from Oxford and a couple of young strikers in from Bournemouth and MK Dons. I haven't the slightest clue how good any of them are, but hopefully they'll be the next Messi, Ronaldo and Hoddle :crossfingers. In fairness, Accy have also recruited a couple of new players and I've no idea how good they are either. I hope they're useless.

Accy lost their last game at home to struggling Barnet 0-3

So, sorry, I've no idea whether Accy are worth a punt at the odds. Either way, I'm hoping to be there

Thanks TC. There's nowt like a bit of facts behind the stats when betting on football. Ive been trying to tell yorkie that for years when he does his load on Iranian football. I'll look elsewhere. The other one i was interested in was odds on 'banker' Cheltenham. Not my type of bet usually but the stats are wanting my mug punter money. I'll pop back friday and see if theyre being mentioned.

It's becomming a really difficult weekend to pick anything from, with nearly all clubs going into the loan market for reserves from higher up the league and becoming unknown quanitities. There have been a couple of unexpected moves or possible moves - possibly most of all cash-strapped Aldershot *paying* for a player :eek So, small stakes this week - in fact, I almost considered skipping this weekend altogether.

Anyway, I can see where Komp is coming from with Cheltenham, but I'll be opposing them. Cheltenham are rightly favourites, but I think are too short so I've taken B365's Rovers +0.5 at 21/20 (3 units). Cheltenham didn't over impress us last week when Junior ThunderCelt and I watched them beat Aldershot :cry. Robins fans reckoned it was a poor performance, but we reckoned a slightly better side than us would have got something from the game. Cheltenham play a defensive game, and seem to rely on one up front and converting the few chances they get.

Rovers have improved defensively since sacking Paul Buckle, and although they have a new man at the helm for this game I don't see why they shouldn't continue looking more solid. Despite their league position I think Rovers have one of the strongest squads in the division and now they're settled managerially I'd expect them to climb the table although it may be too late for a play-off push. (My pre-season punts were Cheltenham for relegation and Rovers for promotion :embarassed )

I also think the number of goals the bookies expect is based on Rovers' defensive generosity under Buckle. Word is they've become more solid in recent games and combine that with Cheltenham's cautious approach I'm happy to take three units on under 2.5 at the generally available evens.

You've been making Junior TC suffer it too? Shocking parental behavoir :p

Agree with what you say there TC and i've got this game in my draws bet this week.

I have only one other bet to shout on this weekend, i wont be shouting too loud mind. I'm not sure if he'll play with all the speculation about other clubs coming in for him but if he does i reckon James Constable will put at least one passed us. I've put him in a small e.w lucky 15 but i've also added a bit extra on him in a single, 4-1 1st and Evens anytime. I've a slight worry they might leave him out and loan signing Oli Johnson will get the goals instead but only Bet365 and Ladbrokes have him priced up at the mo' and i dont have accounts with them. I cant see us getting any sort of result down there even though we kept a clean sheet last time out.

Good luck this weekend, you too Komp :thumb

That James Constable weren't very good when I saw him @ walsall, so whats changed? Chocolate reddybrek ?

Also Barnet. sanchez has turned them round a bit, enough to say the accrington win wasnt quite a fluke. 14 points from their last 9 games since hes brought in 3 defenders isnt bad for a side that were in the trouble they were. I might be a bit tempted with a lay of Northampton tbh

9 goals in 27 games this season isn't the best but its not bad, Hereford are shit and never fare to well against Oxford.
Chocolate reddybrek is out injured.

As Constable (apparently) refused to discuss terms with Swindon he might be eleveted to hero status in Oxford. Not value on paper I don't think as Oxford can be nervy in front of thier own fans and Hereford have been solid away from home (unbeaten in three but admiteddly against weak opposition), but the stage is set for him and it's one of those where you just know... Good luck with it Punter.

And good luck with Barnet. I was thinking of backing Northampton as they were apparently unluckly last week and have been looking better under Bootroyd, but you're right; Barnet's form is better than I'd appreciated.

And a couple of units on overs in the Bradford/Burton game (5/6, SkyBet). Burton are always capable of conceding, but rely on scoring more than the opposition, and are likely to have the prolific Billy Kee back. I don't know much about Bradford, but their last three homes, and Burton's last four aways, would have hit this.

There has been a lot of player movement in and out at Aldershot and Accrington and I think overs offers value now, but I'll sleep on that one. I wouldn't mind being entertained at an Aldershot match for a change. In fact, with us scoring one goal in seven games, I'd just settle for a goal. Our December goal of the month winner was a two yard tap-in on the grounds that it was the only entry :cry

Had a couple of units on overs at 23/20 at Aldershot. We've signed Guy Madjo from Stevenage, and while he's not been anywhere as prolific in the league as he was in the Conference his movement will add a new dimension to our previous static attack and I'd expect us to offer much more of a threat up front. That doesn't mean overs is most likely, but I doubt the bookies have taken this into account and I think 23/20 offers slight value. Accy are neither prolific nor generlous on their travels, but it may be that losing their influential captain to Preston yesterday will make them slightly more brittle, and recent loanees Micah Evans and Jayden Stockley have decent games to goals ratios.

done a bit of a Yorkie here & taken more than I intended, following a well thought out bet on the Norwich/Chelsea game on overs :embarassed
Taken Swindon, Barnet & Oxford in this division in various guises

Ta to Swooperman for putting me off Northampton :thumb
I got two from four but they were the bigger ones so managed a profit of around 20% :beer

Fucking Oxford....all fucking week I said no, just had a feeling....fucking Hereford :ohwell
