Bit busy right now, but will update this later, with the stats sorted differently...

Pink = attackers
Green = midfielders
Blue = defenders

Newcastle v QPR

Newcastle - Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon; Taylor, Guthrie, Cabaye, Gutierrez; Best, Ameobi.
QPR - Kenny, Hill, Derry, Gabbidon, Bothroyd, Mackie, Buzsaky, Young, Helguson, Wright-Phillips, Ferdinand.

On overall and current form this should be an easy win for Newcastle but with Ba and Tiote in Africa and the 'new manager syndrome' in effect at QPR, maybe we might get a shock.

Trying to look for value in the first scorer markets, QPR rely heavily on their strikers for goals and clearly Helguson and Mackie are better propositions than Bothroyd. Luke Young might be worth a go at 50's - doesn't shoot much but when he does he usually hits the target.

With Newcastle, their strikers Best and Ameobi are hopeless so they are more likely to get goals from midfield, maybe from set pieces, with Cabaye and R Taylor the obvious ones. Gutierrez isn't the most accurate of shooters but does have plenty of pops at goal so is another to consider. Guthrie hasn't played much but his stats are okay.

Too many to back them all, I'm going for...

Helguson @ 10.5
Cabaye @ 12.5
R Taylor @ 16.5
Guthrie @ 29.0

also a small 'score anytime' on Luke Young @ 20/1

Interesting Seen but with hindsight would you have now sacked todays picks considering Ba was missing because it altered Newcastles usual line up and Best was always going to be their main striker from the off as useless as he is.

It's brave of you to pick who you did considering the set of circumstances were not ideal, maybe you should have skipped this one and started tomorrow.

I thought with Ba not being there that that would increase the chances of a Newcastle goal from a set-piece. I think you're right that it was the wrong game to start with, as QPR are clearly struggling for goals and with Barton and Traore not playing (they have 5 assists between them from QPR's total 11 goals, so almost half) and with the utterly useless Bothroyd up front, they were gonna struggle to hit the net. Likewise Newcastle were going to find goals hard to come by without Ba, they had just ONE shot on target all game at home against a very poor side (credit to Best though, he took it really well....yet was absolutely pap for the rest of the match).

Still not sure the best way to use these stats, for example is it better to go for a midfielder who has lots of shots but a low accuracy/goals ratio, or a midfielder who doesn't shoot as often but when he does he hits the target more often?

Which do you think would offer the better value for first goalscorer? Both have scored 2 goals this season, Moses has had 4 times as many shots yet his accuracy is not nearly as good, and his goal ratio to shots is very poor (worse than Carroll ffs :lol).
I would imagine Etherington would be the bigger price of the pair as the odds compilers will be aware Moses shoots far more often, so perhaps it's a question of price? I think I would go for Moses as at least the stats suggests you'll get a few shots per game rather than maybe one.
Will look at tonight's game in a bit when the teams are announced.

Not much in the way of value when Man City play poor teams as the likes of Aguero, Dzeko and Silva are all short odds.

Very small stakes for interests sake on...

Milner @ 17.0
Crusat @ 20.0 (not on above table as only started 4 games, but has hit the target with all 4 of his shots this season)
Gomez @ 25.0
Figueroa @ 150.0 (unlikely I know but the only Wigan defender who shoots regularly)

Not really expecting a result but we'll see.

Oh, and I've backed Wigan on the corners match bet @ 4.0 as I think they'll have a go tonight. Stats suggest that price is too big.

I'm amazed Moses ever scores to be honest. I don't know who the fuck he thinks he's playing against but he's never going to get the time he seems to think he's going to get against this defence.

Maybe he just thinks he's better than he is.:ohwell

Meant to post seen, I thought the Luke Young bet was a good shout :thumb

First time I've really watched him, what a fucking frustrating player he is. Seems to choose the wrong option every single time, like having the chance to whip in a cross yet stops and tries to dribble past 2 of the best defenders around. I think he definitely thinks he's better than he is.

Bit unlucky with the corners bet as Man City won 5-4 although it should have been 5-5 as Wigan should have had one right on half-time but the ref gave a goal-kick for some reason. Did manage to trade a little during the game though.

Here are the stats sorted in to attackers, Midfielders and Defenders, so they can be compared against each other...

Interesting that of the top half-dozen strikers on shots, Suarez is comfortably the poorest on accuracy and goals ratio.

There are some midfielders who really shouldn't be shooting either, Obertan ONE shot on target from 19 attempts, Pennant NO shots on target from 9 attempts, N'Zogbia THREE shots on target from 31 attempts :lol

Tell you who's stats I'd be interested to see (and I'm going blind here trying to find the twat's name up there. Pavlechenko (sp?). He's probably the greediest cunt I've ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen anyone squander so many opportunities when players are in better positions than him. Of course some of them come off but nobody counts the amount of possession and decent chances he wastes.

Check him out for yourself next time. Even if he comes on as sub, it'll be no more than five or six minutes before the big lanky tub of shite has to have a lash.
