Diagnosed with acute leukaemia after developing a fever after playing 90 minutes versus Arsenal. :ohwell

Vastly underrated player whos become essential to Villas cause - keep the faith Stan :zhail

Eck has described him as 'defiant'. Best wishes to him.

Heard this on the radio early this morning when I was half asleep and when I woke up couldn't remember what was up with him, I meant to look it up today but never got the chance then forgot all about it until i just spotted this thread.
Poor bugger, let's hope acute Leukaemia is a curable as it sounds and he makes a full recovery.

Curable as it sounds? It's cancer of the blood Slick. He's likely to be fucked

I know what it is ODM but the 'acute' bit must be there for a reason, I ain't gonna google it as I'm googled out for this week as all i seem to be doing these days is googling complex words whilst proofing thesis's from foreign student's, it's part of my new job I'm afraid and a lot to ask imo of someone who's only used to changing fuses.
The worlds gone mad and everybody is being supressed by administritive bullies looking out for themselves and their like , surely it can't be sustainable in the long run.

If I had a factory and I was struggling then the last people I would hit are those that are on the shop floor producing, but that's not the case in government circles, their idea to make things better is to sack those that produce and get in more managers to try and solve the problem, resulting in plenty of people that do fcuk all apart from worrying about workers that produce and trying to crack the whip to get them to produce more whilst on twice as much money. If that was you or me we'd just get in two more workers for the same money and produce three times as much.

These fcukers are dangerous and are embedding themselves deeper and deeper into our way of life and one of the main reasons this country is fcuked up.

not necessarily so ODM, one of the students in my class was diagnosed with leukaemia and she has had no problems for the last 3 years.

She!!?:eek , fcuk me when you mentioned Kojak I thought it was a He.

Hope you're right but this doesn't sound great to me.

Improved treatments for children with leukaemia now mean that nearly nine out of ten of them can be cured. However, the cure rates for adults with leukaemia are not as good. For chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, about half of the patients die within five years of being diagnosed. For chronic myeloid leukaemia, about one third survive for five years. For acute myeloid leukaemia, only one in ten patients survives for five years. Amongst the few adults diagnosed with acute lumphocytic leukaemia, the outcome depends on their age. About one third of the patients aged under 40 will survive for five years

40-45% survival rate I'm reading, but more common in 60 year olds, where the survival rate is utterly shocking :unsure

Was shocked at first hearing it yesterday, but last night was a lot better than now. Feel bizarrely empty (no puns please :wink) Quite strange. Dont go regularly now, but feel quite strange about all this now. Be a long day this

Announced his retirement, which was obvious but brings it home more. hope its a full house & he gets the absent reception he deserves, which is a given. Glad Birmingham weren't on the box last night, relieving any temptation

He's at the ground :eek just released a statement. Men against boys looking at the teamsheets
