Super League's 26th season begins at 6pm tonight with St Helens taking on Salford, followed by newcomers Leigh ( replacing Toronto who were not readmitted to the competition following last year's mid season withdrawal ) taking on Wigan.
Richard Marshall is in charge for the first time for Salford and he will know plenty about the opponent having been assistant coach at Saints for 3 years. Both sides have new signings and whilst St Helens will be fancied to win the comp again, Salford can also make their presence felt.
Wigan will be hot favourites to beat Leigh and should be thereabouts come grand final time. Leigh will be expected to struggle, but have made some experienced signings and will not be a pushover.
Leeds Rhino's have bought Kyle Eastmond back to League, having played for a number of top Union clubs as well as winning international honours with England and can do better than last year.
Warrington have former top Aussie player Greg Inglis in the ranks and if fit and firing, will make an impact.
Castleford should be in the mix come play off time in what will be Darryl Powell's last season in charge.
Hull FC continue to frustrate and not sure what to expect form them. Hull KR may struggle to make the play off's, but a trip to East Hull is always tough.
Huddersfield and Wakefield have the talent to compete, but will need a bit of luck with injuries, in what will be a really congested season.
Catalans will be looking to better last year's semi final effort and do have the squad to make the post season.
