here are my bets for the open

McIlroy opening day leader @21

Tiger win @10

and for interest sake my e.w. bets
Poulter
Kaymer
Kucher
Schwartzel

I'm gonna do exactly what I did last year, pick a handful of big odds gunslingers used to British conditions. The young la-di-da's dont stand a chance in this weather, the tried & trusted do

I've backed Tiger at 10/1 & Colsaerts (cannae mind price)

Didnt Tiger say it was the hardest rough he'd ever seen or something. About -2 will win it then

I know cock all about golf, only that the prices fluctuate like crazy so my strategy is to pick about ten at the start and back and lay those and others all the way through to the end. A strategy that fell on its arse in the last major (there's a thread somewhere) when it was all looking so good on Saturday afternoon.

I stick with roughly the same bunch and back and lay others as they charge or encounter a blip and anyone who slips through the net is my loser. Woods will start off as a loser for me and go all the way through the weekend as such. I'm not actively laying him, although I did last time, but I'm not putting a penny on him either.

My top ten pre kick off are, as follows (some prices are betfair and are without commission and rounded down to the nearest 5)

Harrington 20/1
Mickelson 40
Garcia 40
Molinari 45
Kaymer 50
Poulter 50
Ouistwhatsit 50
Furyk 55
Mahan 55
Goosen 190

Let the battle commence

Not sure I'm going to bet yet, which means I will lol. But if I'm looking I'm looking at the likes of:
Els
Furyk
Choi
Lawrie
Bjorn
Cink
Davis Love 3rd
Laird
...edit - possibly Harrington as well

Lets not get carried away with the rough , its not every hole , they are professional golfers so stay the fuck out of it !!

Gone for Hunter Mahan (50/1) and Rickie Fowler ( 40/1 ).
Top European , two probables for me , Rose and Mcdowell , both around 14s.

Having looked at the driving stats, whilst also considering the necessity to stick to the fairways, I'm favouring McDowell and Mahan, but for his love of links golf and challenging conditions, I also going for Fowler.

I'm also temped by Rose too.

Its not just the rough though is it, its the wind, links, the whole thing. That has not brought me a list of Mahan & McDowell for precisely the same reasons as Gav, Curtis & Tim Clarke for the same type of reasons, but my main money will be going on Simon Dyson & Jamie Donaldson top Brit/English.
Donaldson has just won on links in Ireland & isnt far away from the Ryder Cup squad, & dyson is a low hitter, accurate 7 has also won on links.
Others to look for are Cabrera-Bello & Fernandes-Castano top contis

Lucky dips as i know bugger all. But i'm feeeeelin' lucky...

Justin Rose @ 32
Adam Scott @ 43
Louis Oosthuizen @ 52
Ian Poulter @ 52
Paul Lawrie @ 106
Peter Hanson @ 152
Retief Goosen @ 158
KJ Choi @ 170
Vijay Singh @ 335
John Daly @ 445

Gone with my regular bet on VIJAY SINGH ( Overall and 1st round leader ). Also gone with BRANDON GRACE ( Outright ) and GREGORY HAVRET ( 1st round leader )

+ T5 18 -4 MCDOWELL, Graeme ...winrew ,swoops ?
+ T5 18 -4 DUFNER, Jason
+ T5 18 -4 AIKEN, Thomas
+ 10 18 -3 ELS , Ernie ...swoops ?

that shot by woods on the 18th today looked good to me

I'm on mcDowell, Mahan & Donalsdson. didnt do Ernie or Lawrie in the end :ohwell I'm not unhappy tbh, dyson involved in my bets as well

I'm actually green on 8 of those now, not much profit to what i've staked but i've been betting in play early morning last two days. Great to come home and see the leader board tonight. Only Olsen and Els can do me damage from the current top 10.

Swoops - if you're reading this, I owe you a couple of pints. I'm sitting here in absolute shock. Was watching the golf and turned it off when it was obvious that Scott was going to piss it. Just turned the computer on to find that Else won it. If I hadn't read Swoops' post I would be sitting here kicking myself black and blue cos he's one I always have on my side and I'd completely missed him out for some reason.

Cheers mate:beer
