this weekend's odds from betvictor
Fri
Airbus UK v Bala 7/5 13/5 31/20
Port Talbot v Newtown 1/1 13/5 23/10
Carmarthen v Afan Lido 7/10 13/5 18/5
T.N.S. v Prestatyn 3/10 21/5 7/1

Sat
Connah's Quay v Llanelli 13/5 13/5 9/10
Bangor City v Aberystwyth 2/5 7/2 6/1

the early season upset don't seem to have affected the odds in this league , here are my views on this weekend's matches

Airbus v Bala
Both these clubs have invested in playing staff and were expected to do well this season but have had a poor start.
This is a difficult one to predict

Port Talbot v Newtown
Port Talbot have zero points from two starts , whilst last season's bottom club Newtown have surprised many with their start , four points with a late win against Bangor last week.
An away win looks a decent price if Newtown's youngsters can keep their heads.

Carmarthen v Afan Lido
Carmarthen doing well with two wins from two , last week's win was a last kick winner though when they were out-played
Afan Lido on 0 points . Carmarthen have an organised defence and I can see this one being a low scoring affair but I do see value in the home win.

T.N.S. v Prestatyn
It is always difficult to oppose TNS at home ,they have a 100% record from their first two matches . Prestatyn have four points from this season's start.
Looks like a home win at poor odds , I'm not even considering the A.H. bet

Connah's Quay v Llanelli
Connah's Quay the newly promoted club will be a difficult side to beat at home .They have 3 points and were unlucky to lose to a very late penalty at Bangor.
Llanelli have four points but have serious financial problems. This from Welsh-premier site
LLANELLI'S future remains mired in doubt as the club remains silent in the face of legal action over unpaid taxes, according to the Llanelli Star.
HM Revenue and Customs has served Llanelli AFC with a winding-up petition as a result of unpaid taxes
I believe that this factor can influence their performance and think that Connah's Quay to be a decent price at home

Bangor v Aberystwyth
Bangor won their opening match with a late penalty but lost to two late goals last week at Newtown , I was hoping that result would have dictated this week's odds for Bangor but odds of 1.40 are not good enough for me. Aber away do tend to falter but they do cause problems to Bangor from my recollection.
Will have a think about the asian handicap for this one .

Not fully convinced about my bets yet. The ones I'm considering are Newtown @ 3.3 with betvictor , Carmarthen under 2.5 @ 2.6 with bet365 and Connah's Quay @ 3.8 with stanjames. The DNB could be the safer option for Newtown @2.6 and C.Q.@ 2.8

Hello mate,

Nice write ups. My opinions:

Carmarthen vs Afan Lido
You told me never to play under 2.5 in the WPL! You are right about Carmarthen's defence being pretty tight. But it only takes a couple of individual errors and a game in this league can easily go over 2.5 out of nowhere. I am tempted by the straight win @ 1.75, but I'll probably pass. Afan Lido are a bit of unknown quantity having changed most of their team and manager, as I understand. They have no money and are tipped to do badly but looked competitive against TNS before losing the game 1-3. Didn't see any highlights of their game against Prestatyn as I was on holiday. I think we need to see more of this Lido side before writing them off.

Port Talbot vs Newtown
I've been impressed with Newtown since the fag end of last season when despite being bottom they started playing some really good football. It has not surprised me that they have started well. However 3.2 is not big enough for me here. I understand Port Talbot spent a lot in the summer, relatively speaking. I would fancy them to get the win here but no bet.

TNS vs Prestatyn
TNS good value here in my opinion, but bear in mind I like short prices in betting (1.1-1.4 sort of range). Their home record is very strong and Prestatyn don't seem to have improved much over the summer. They looked out of their depth in the top half last year. TNS @ 1.36 (Stan James) is my bet, large stakes.

Bangor vs Aber
Bangor have also got a very impressive long-term home record, I would normally be all over that 1.44 and double it up with TNS. However, based on what I've read on the net, there are too many doubts about their form at Nantporth. I've read many comments along the lines of: Bangor are used to playing route one, the pitch at the new ground does not suit it and they need to try and keep the ball on the ground more. Would be interested in your opinions on this Traeth. But it certainly seems their form at Nantporth has not been as impressive as at Farrar Road with a poor performance against Connah's Quay, and last year points dropped against Llanelli, TNS and Neath which cost them the title. So no bet for me on 1x2. HOWEVER, over 2.5 is a gift @ 1.45 (Bwin). 16 out of Bangor's last 17 home games have gone over 2.5 goals! And they looked shaky at the back last weekend.

Connah's Quay vs Llanelli
Agree with what you wrote but I am chickening out of betting on the home side here so no bet (again). Difficult to know how Llanelli will play, they still have some good players and I don't know much about Nomads.

GL!

hi pg , great to get your opinion

I've been to Nantporth or The Book People Stadium , the pitch looks very good and even but the areas behind the goal is bare and will lack the "atmosphere" of Farrar Road . Farrar Road had a slight slope with a dip in one corner , Bangor did have opt out of route one ball to Les Davies. I do not understand why they cannot have this opt out on a flat even pitch. Bangor have not had a good record at Nantporth since their move there in January, but did win their opening match there against newly promoted Connah's Quay . Your thinking has me considering a Bangor A.H./TNS A.H. home double.

Les Davies and Chris Jones stopped in Porthmadog on the way back from Newtown last weekend and they were very annoyed with "giving" the game away [ Les and Chris are ex Port players ]

Thinking to take TNS -1,5 huge bet. They didnt play that good against Airbus, still need time to be at their best IMO.But ,they are maybe class above teams in league this season IMO, always strong at home on their plastic.Saints usually wins almost all home games in season,at least in 1st phase,so i dont think it will be different now.
Prestatyn made solid start of the season, but cant see them hurting Saints. Will wait to see odds in my local but i am pretty sure will take -1,5 huge .GL

Yeah I completely agree, why can't Bangor play route one on a flat pitch? That's what I always think when I see those comments. Les Davies is quality! My favourite player in the WPL. I'm actually going to be in Wales next week on holiday, in Pembrokeshire. I fancy going to a game whilst I'm there but I'll be with my girlfriend and her family; not sure it will be possible! I was hoping Haverfordwest came up as I'll be near to there.

I agree with the bet, though personally I tend to prefer the straight win in situations such as these. Good luck and hope to see you in this thread more.

hi mij this is from today's daily post

,Andy Parkinson is Prestatyn's only doubt as they travel to take on reigning champions The New Saints at Park Hall tonight, writes Gareth Bicknell.
The former Tranmere midfielder came off with what appeared to be a groin strain during last weekend's 2-2 draw against Llanelli, but it transpired this week the 33-year-old had a back pull which is not as bad as was first feared.
While former Liverpool trainee Parkinson is rated 50-50 for tonight's game, otherwise Prestatyn manager Neil Gibson can choose from a full-strength squad as his side aim to continue their unbeaten start to the season
nothing more on twitter

this the latest re Llanelli

LLANELLI, who were due to answer a winding-up petition on behalf of HM Revenue and Customs in the High Court on Monday, has issued an official statement.
"Llanelli AFC can confirm that the outstanding money owed to HMRC was paid this afternoon and the subsequent winding order will not be actioned.
The club will now look forward to tomorrow's match at Connah's Quay and the rest of the season,"
