One of the biggest fixtures on the European calendar gets underway this Saturday 5th March as Borussia Dortmund welcome Bayern Munich to the Westfalenstadion at 17:30 GMT.

It’s a huge fixture in the German title race and a win for Dortmund could see them move within 2 points of the Bavarian giants. Earlier this week the race looked all but won for Pep Guardiola in his final season at Bayern, but an unexpected loss to FSV Mainz on Wednesday has led many to believe that Dortmund may yet snatch victory away from Munich. Dortmund’s last title came in the 2013-14 season, when Jürgen Klopp famously lead them to their first league title since the 1991-92 season in fantastic style.

That same season Dortmund went on an impressive run to reach the Champions League final at Wembley where they were narrowly beaten by Jupp Heynckes’ treble-winning Bayern side. In that game, Dortmund suffered a heart-breaking defeat at the hands of Arjen Robben, who scored late on to ensure the Bavarians lifted the trophy. To add insult to injury, Munich went on to poach some of Borussia’s finest talents in the following seasons, with Mario Götze and Robert Lewandowski both making controversial transfers to the Allianz Arena.

Despite their home advantage, Dortmund go into the game with the odds against them at 21/10 (3.10), whilst Bayern are clear favourites at 13/10 (2.30).

There are over 100 markets available on the match including special markets such as the Wincast (Full Time Result and Anytime Goalscorer) and To Win To Nil, which has happened in 4 of their last 7 encounters. Borussia are 5/1 (6.00) to manage the feat on Saturday, whilst Bayern are 3/1 (4.00).

Those looking for a safer bet may look to the Over/Under 2.5 Goals market, with a high score line not uncommon in these full-blooded encounters. Over 2.5 Goals is 4/5 (1.80), whilst under 2.5 goals is 1/1 (2.00).

When Dortmund travelled to the Allianz Arena earlier in the season, they suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat at the hands of former players Robert Lewandowski and Mario Götze who notched 3 goals against their former club between them, with Thomas Muller supplying the other 2. bet365 are 80/1 (81.00) that Munich will repeat the feat again this Saturday, and 150/1 (151.00) that Dortmund can reverse the score line and humble the Bavarian giants.

With all that's been going on this week I hadn't appreciated that Bayern had got beat so this will be worth a watch.

Might have a bet on the over market just for interest.

Dortmund are 16s for the title, theyre 5pts behind and must be worth a few quid of anyones money at that price.

You have to wonder if Pep announcing he is leaving, is going to have the same impact at Bayern, as what seems to be happening at City, since Pellegrini announced he was leaving.
