Football - Emotional Rooney sends United through

Wayne Rooney paid his respects to his late sister-in-law as he scored the only goal to earn Manchester United an FA Cup fourth round tie with Fulham as they beat West Ham 1-0 at Old Trafford.

After taking the congratulations of his team-mates when he turned home Javier Hernandez's square ball after only nine minutes, the England forward kissed his hands, looked to the skies and raised his arms as he walked back towards the halfway line.

Pity he almost hit her with the penalty

I shouldn't lol for Winrews sake but that last sentence made me laugh.

Never saw the match but fair play to Rooney as it can't be easy when a child that is close to you dies, I just hope he wasn't milking the situation because Rooney doesn't strike me as being the emotional type.
