ThunderCelt's National League Bets 2015/16

ThunderCelt

National League Punter
A record of my non-league bets for 15/16 for other Betnodders to laugh at...

I was hoping to keep my powder dry a little longer, but Grimsby to win the National League are slowly coming in and I wanted to get 13/2 while there's still some left (Sky only now). They're as low as 9/2 with Laddies.

Grimsby finished third last season and have managed to retain a lot of the same team, while adding here and there. The fans are also well on the way to raising a warchest of £100k for transfers before the season starts (£40k to date, with a rich local matching pound for pound, apparently) so the squad is likely to improve over the next month or too. 667 units at 13/2 with Sky. My own price would be perhaps around 5/1 or 11/2.

My thoughts are the same as yours regarding Grimsby and it's a value price imo.

The league looks tougher than ever this season, i'd need to cover Tranmere and Grimsby, i think the bookies are more clued up than ever having those two at the head of the market (and also having Welling as relegation favourites).

Forest Green Rovers @ 15/8 to make the play-offs looks a good bet too.

I'll join you with some Antepost bets in the coming weeks. Good luck!

Good spot by Punter on FGR to make the play-offs :clap - I agree 15/8 looks generous. Boyle are offering the same price on Eastleigh too, and both sides are putting together some nice squads and at those prices can be hedged if they look like slipping out or winning the league. 870 units on both to return 2501 each.

Tranmere are coming in; while I'm not convinced they'll win the league I think they'll be thereabouts so I've taken BetVic's 11/2 for 770 units.

Prices for National North and South are coming out. I'm no expert on these, but in the south the bookies reckon the same teams will be there or thereabouts as I do, although they have Ebbsfleet as slightly more standout favourites than I was expecting.

In the north Fylde finished runaway second last time but lost out in the play-offs, and have apparently managed to keep their best players. Sky have them at 11/2 which is a bit longer than I'd expected, so I've had 383 units.

Top scorer in this league seems to be a bit of a lottery, but I think James Constable (Eastleigh) is a bit long at 16/1. He did okay in his first season at Eastleigh without ever looking like coming out on top, but I'm hoping with a year's experience and the likelihood he'll be a first choice will work in his favour. Eastleigh have changed a lot of the team which might take the players a while to get used to but on the other hand their opening few fixtures could be harder (except Aldershot, of course :wink ) so with luck he could get off to a good start. 148 units with Sky at 16/1.

A multiple on the three league winners:

Grimsby, 5/1; AFC Fylde, 11/2; Ebbsfleet Utd, 7/2. 174.5/1, Skybet, 171 units staked to return 30,011 units.

Saturday 8th:
Grimsby to win at Kidderminster, 65 units, 11/10, BetFred
Aldershot to beat Gateshead, 50 units, 9/5, Bet365
Macclesfield to win at Torquay, 38 units, 13/5, BetVic

To be relegated, both BetVic, Torquay 200 units, 4/1; Guiseley 381 Units at 13/8, each to return about 1,000 units. On another thread I said I'd also be looking at Braintree, but Vic's 13/8 doesn't appeal and I'm not with Betway to take their attractive looking 11/4.

Looking forward to the weekend...

Wrexham v Aldershot, over 2.5 goals, 78 units at 20/23, Boylesports
Rhys Browne (Aldershot), anytime scorer, 21 units at 6/1, Bet365

Another antepost treble, as Fylde haven't started as well as I'd have liked:

Grimsby 10/3, Stockport 9/2, Ebbsfleet 7/4, 64.54/1, 458 units, BetVic.

Did you go to Wrexham v Aldershot TC?

I think Wrexham could be in for a good season without knowing to much about them. I know they've 3 wins from 4 games AND the fans are turning out for them. I still have, in no particular order, Forest Green, Grimsby and Tranmere as where the winner will come from, but for running close behind the leaders i have Wrexham on par with Eastliegh, so far.
Any thoughts on Wrexham?

I didn't make Wrexham, but apparently we were poor. Wrexham haven't played any of the promotion favourites yet so I suppose can't be judged against them. I think the top four will be Grimsby, Tranmere, Forest Green, Eastleigh with Wrexham among those chasing the final play-off place.

Havant and Waterlooville to win National South, 14/1, E/W top 3 1/4, 67 units x 2, SkyBet

Whitehawk to beat Chelmsford, evens, 74 units, BetVic
Havant & W to beat Oxford C, 7/5, 62 units, Unibet

Getting on early for next weekend because Sky's price looks too long and I'm expecting it to come in. 64 units at 11/8, Gateshead to win at Guiseley.
