I've explained before that in the bowls world there isn't a lot between being a top club bowler and being world champion. It's not like golf where me being a 13 handicapper would not have any chance of beating Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy in matchplay however in bowls this is not the case. Where in bowls this is a more realistic target where a top club player could beat the world number one. Monday night sees R.Weale 1/5 playing M.Stepney 100/30 (skybet odds). Stepney won the Scottish indoor singles last year and currently plays in the Scottish international team (Weale plays for welsh team). Nothing is guaranteed (as we have seen in previous years) but although Weale is a past champion and he has experience of playing on the portable rink (don't think Stepney has played on it before) the odds that sky are offering does not justify that both these players are good bowlers. Stepney at 100/30 is big. Nearer the time they may offer a handicap bet which will also be worth while looking at.
