Lucky 15 for South Africa ( 2 meetings ) -

1.10 Kenilworth - BRIDAL PARTY - Showed some improvement 2nd start, tries the extra 200m and chance at 25's if improving again. Certianly bred to be decent.

1.45 Kenilworth - MAMBO FEVER - Rested 32 wks, but only wins this c & d ( 2 from 4 overall ) Fitness has to be taken on trust, but happy risking it at 25's.

2.20 Kenilworth - CABALLO BLANCO - Has very useful sprint form at handicap level and holds strong claims. Was expecting 3's or 4's, so cannot the early 15/2 on offer.

5.15 Turffontein - AMAZING STRIKE - Much improved in latest and whilst a bit to find at the weights, is better than his current rating suggests.

2.55 Kenilworth - JUST FELICITY and DROP THE PILOT - JF Just too well h'capped now to ignore at 5's and DTP would have needed it last time and should improve for that at 11's.

4.00 Lingfield - AMANTO and MUNSARIM - Only English race of the day that I am remotely interested in and can give both an EW chance on best form. The pair are both available at 33's and happy playing at said prices.

5.45 Turffontein - KAPELLMEISTER - Better effort last time, still plenty of scope off this mark and is 3 from 13 this c & d. Top young claimer booked and of definite EW interest at 16's.

6.15 Turffontein - CLARET CUP and GINA BALLERINA - Fair post maiden effort, from CC and looks capable of making her mark in h'cap company at 9's. GB was a shade disappointing on debut, but has been right up there in all 5 subsequent starts. Short at 9/2, but this looks about right.

6.45 Turffontein - CUMBERLAND - Very open race, but most of these too short for my liking. Cumberland has hit a bit of form last 2, but is still below his peak mark and does run the track well. Fair EW shout at 16's.

7.15 Turffontein - Gone with 3 " roughies " to end the card -

SEPTEMBER BLOOM ( Poor draw, flyjumped the start and then faded on h'cap debut. Opening mark looked fair and would expect better today at 25's )
SECRET ANGEL ( Moderate recent form, but has placed over this distance and down to a nice looking mark. Fair EW shout at 25's )
SPURWING SUMMER ( Bit more like it last couple and only win came at this distance. Gets weight all round, represents a top trainer and is ridden by a top claimer. Bit surprised by the early 33's on offer and a definite player at that price )

Winner at a drifting 33's. Opened 20's, last show was 28's, so a very nice surprise. To be fair, won by a fairly comfortable couple of lengths.

DIsappointing finish with a 4th, 5th and 8th in the last. Given the way the race was run, one or both of September Bloom / Secret Angel, really should have run a place. Just the 2 winners on the day, but AMANTO at 40's and KAPPELLMEISTER at 33's made it a good day. Pugged the money away for the festival and now got the ammo to have a decent go.
