Tuesday 7th August

No prices up yet for South Africa, but can't see many of them being less than 10's -

11.30 Vaal - JIMMY BUTTS - Nicely bred debutante and related to a couple of fair winners.

12.05 Vaal - STRAWBERRY MIST and GOLDEN CHESTNUT - Pair of possible improvers, both forecast to go off at 20's. Would not be surprised if SM went of shorter.

1.15 Vaal - LEVI LADY - Inconsistent sort, but has 5 career wins and definitely capable on a going day. Could prove dangerous as lurking on a very nice mark.

1.50 Vaal - LAURENT DU VAR - Bit better last time and decent young claimer keeps the ride. Easier race today and could prove the dark horse of the race.

2.05 Catterick - OLIVANDER - Nicely bred newcomer at 12's.

2.25 Vaal - BLAZING WINTER and SO LONG SPRING - BW looks the " sensible " one as holds fair form and would have needed the run last time. SLS is over his best trip, is on a good mark and has the plum draw.

2.50 Newbury - DUDLEY'S BOY - Nicely bred debutante and the trainer knows the family well at 16's.

3.55 Newbury - DARK PANTHER - Gelded since last run and upped in trip for handicap debut. Certainly should do better at 12's.

6.10 Ayr - GEOGRAPHY TEACHER - Nursery debutante at 20's.

Wednesday 8th August

11.45 Greyville - JET STREAM - Well bred sort and looks a possible improver at 20's

12.20 Greyville - MIESQUE SUNRISE - Car park draw and lost a length on debut, but did make good late headway. Certainly should improve today at 20's.

1.30 Greyville - CALL ME WINTER - Non qualifier for thread purposes at 7's, but have this one as nearer a 5/1 shot.

2.45 Greyville - UNDER THE STARS - Fair sort on his day and does go well for this jockey. Really should be thereabouts at 10's.
 
3.55 Greyville - COUNTESS JUD and VELVET GLOVE - Pair of outsiders at 33's and 50's respectively. CJ can improve and VG is the handler's only entrant today.
 
6.10 Kempton - BHODI - Disappointing pair of outings to date, but bred to do better and does represent the Stoute yard at 20's.
 
7.50 Yarmouth - ITS NOT UNUSUAL - Lightly raced and has the first time cheekpieces added at 12's.

8.00 Sligo - BUFFALO BLUES - Decent last couple of efforts and should threaten at 10's with Rachael Blackmore booked.

8.30 Sligo - WICHITA LINE - Has hinted at ability and hopefully the first time tongue tie can bring about improvement at 25's.
 
Thursday 9th August

11.20 Turffontein - CRUCREEK - Nicely bred and looks a once raced possible improver at 16's.
 
1.05 Turffontein - Going with 3 outsiders at this one -

EMILY HOBHOUSE at 18's
SHIMMIRRA at 33's
THE GREAT QUEEN at 40's
 
2.20 Yarmouth - GLOBAL DESTINATION - Top stable, but not necessarily known for debutante winners. Does look a nicely bred sort though at 33's.

5.20 Leopardstown - CHAGALL - Nicely drawn on debut and half brother to enough winners to be of interest at 50's.

7.25 Newcastle - OLIVANDER and UP THE MILLERS - Pair of newcomers at 12's and 16's respectively.

8.50 Sligo - MY FRIEND AOIFE - Not the worst debut effort and should be capable of better at 14's.
 
Friday 10th August

1.50 Wolverhampton - IFYOUDONTMIND - Poor debut effort, but short that day and been gelded since, so improvement more than possible at 33's.
 
6.25 Chelmsford - MINELLI and ZEEBAD at 14's and 66's respectively.

6.50 Haydock - ORRELL ANGEL - 80's in a 7 runner event, so going with the extra place at 75's.
 
Saturday 11th August

11.30 Turffontein - EL SERENO - Once raced, possible improver at 66's

12.37 Turffontein - THE RUSSIAN SAILOR - Beaten just under 6L on debut ( slowly away ) and should be much better for that. Early 50's looks big to me.

1.05 Ascot - WATCHABLE - Holds smart form this year and interesting with Joao Moreira booked at 14's.

4.10 Turffontein - STALKING - Strydom was booked for debut run, so presumably had shown something at home. Slow away and green that day and banking on decent improvement today at 14's.

5.45 Lingfield - LA BASS - Looks a tough race for a debutante, but does look a potentially decent sort at 16's

7.15 Lingfield - CLEVEDON - Disappointing to date and would have hoped for more last time on Nursery debut. Cheekpieces added today and will to stick with this one at 16's.

8.25 Kilbeggan - PARADISE THEATRE - Hinted at ability on debut and tongue strap added today. Possible improver at 66's
 
12.15 Kenilworth - SWIFT SURPRISE - 130K Purchase and does look a nicely bred newcomer at 20's.
 
Sunday 12th August

12.40 Scottsville - CAPTAIN IRISH at 25's

1.55 Curragh - REEKING HAVOC at 22's

2.00 Leicester - EDGEWOOD at 16's

3.00 Scottsville - BOMBS AWAY at 33's

3.15 Punchestown - HUMPS AND BUMPS at 25's

5.25 Leicester - COMPTON POPPY at 11's

5.30 Downpatrick - UKNOWWHATIMEAN at 20's and KRISTOFFERSON at 50's
 
Monday 13th August

2.50 Flamingo Park - MATTHEW LIPS - Shrewd trainer runs the 3 outsiders and for me, this is the most likely of those at 40's

3.25 Flamingo Park - SILVERDREAMMACHINE - Potentially very well handicapped at 20's

7.20 Ballinrobe - BYRON BEAUTY - Hinted at old ability last time and certainly on a generous looking mark if anywhere near that level. Definite EW interest at 12's
