PREMIER LEAGUE
17/08/20 Relegation - Everton £8 @ 25/1 W.Hills
Reasoning: I think only Arsenal have been in the top flight in English football longer than Everton. The blue noses have flirted with relegation a few times in recent years (at some point in the season) and despite getting Ancelotti on board i've a feeling they could be leaving the top flight for the first time since being promoted in 1954.
It's not a big bet that i want to pile into but there's a chance. Without knowing of any dealings in the transfer market i think 25/1 is worth taking at this point.
Recent seasons is the starting point. Strugglers for a while now.
They rely on too many youngsters and have the worst goalkeeper in the league.
An old out dated stadium, being left behind with some of the grounds that are about these days. Promoted clubs Leeds and WBA have better grounds. You may think WTF has a ground got to do with it, but i can tell you as a Red, that the new stand and the redevelopment of Anfield has made a huge difference to us. With a capacity of just 44,000 it was beginning to feel like we were no longer a big club. We were standing still.
And Evertons plans for a new stadium down the docks just seems like a bullshit pipe dream at present.
I also think about when when Utd won the prem for the first time in 26? 27? yrs in 1992. While they started dominating their City rivals started struggling and were relegated in 96 (Sorry to have to mention that Slick)
Maybe there's a comparison there as Liverpool have started lifting trophies again.
Maybe their time is up. One of the longest serving teams in top flight English football are about to be relegated.
A similar situation to what happened to Hamburg in the Bundesliga, the season before last.
