At last, after what seems like months of waiting since May, the English football season starts.

I was going to hold fire for a day or so for team news, but Corals are out of line in offering 7/4 for Barnet to beat Chester and I've had a nibble while it's still there. Barnet are being tipped to do well, with an experienced coach in Martin Allen who knows the club well, and they've made some nifty signings over the summer, particularly John Akinde.

I know less about Chester, but of course they only got a reprieve from relegation thanks to other clubs' misfortunes and their squad list looks less impressive.

I think this is a value bet rather than a sure winner. While it's all a bit tentative at this stage of the season, my finger in the air price for Barnet is the more general 6/4.

Good post and good luck TC.

I'm not starting my coupon campaign until the16th but that does look a good shout on Barnet with Corals odds of 7/4. As you say it looks a value call.

I'll be hacked off if Eastleigh win as they also look a shade big to me.

You might be right there, Punter :thumb . I've gone with Eastleigh; Nuneaton are well tipped to go down and Eastleigh look good enough going forward to cause anyone problems.

Barnet win 5-0 @ 7/4
Eastliegh win 3-0 @ 6/4

8 goals scored, none conceded. Not good enough TC, we must do better :wink

A nice start to the Conference season. Thanks to Punter for the Eastleigh tip. :thumb

Roll on Tuesday's games.

Well done chaps, backed Barnet and Eastleigh because of this thread.

Nice one ODM :)

I've got to say well done to TC again, excellent pick @ 7/4. Aldershot winning comfortably too, must of made a top day for you.

Let's see what we can come up with for the Midweek games..

I get the feeling Forest Green look a banker but i'm not willing to take odds on shots so early in the season.
I dont like Welling this season and think Torquay are worthy of some consideration at evens.
Barnet to go in again? Tough opposition but 6/4 at home, got to be on the shortlist.
Telford another home i'd consider.
Two aways to consider, Lincoln and more so Gateshead at a Big 2/1.

Gateshead @ 2/1 is the one i'm going to start looking at first.

I've really struggled with Tuesday's matches. There are a lot of short priced bankers, but like Punter I'm trying to avoid them at this stage of the season.

I am happy to oppose Macclesfield though. Telford are around 6/4, which is sort of what I'd expected but the DNB option seems to offer a bit of value, so I've taken Telford DNB at BetVic's 17/20. Macc have apparently sorted their financial problems but at the cost of (allegedly) having their budget slashed.

Telford managed a decent draw at Welling on Saturday despite playing for most of the match with ten men, and some of it with nine, and their manager reckoned they'd have won had numbers been even.

Neither side looks particularly strong and I assume Telford will have their naughty boys suspended, but given home advantage I'm happy to go with Telford at the price.

Well done Punter - if you backed all those you were looking at you're probably a very wealthy man. :clap

My evening was less successful :cry.

Barnet look on fire at the moment; I know there'll be a thread for the weekend but I've already taken them at 21/20 to beat Lincoln as I can't see that staying around got long.

Cheers TC, i only left out FGR, i'm not wealthy though as only very small bets, but a good night :thumb

Good luck at the weekend with Barnet, i'll post some odds up tomorrow
