Connection problem

Got, in the house, 2 laptops one of which is old & rarely used, a desktop & an Ipad mini. Turned main laptop on earlier, something up, gone into system restore. Won't connect wirelessly. Can hardwire it no problem, & existing old laptop is ok wireless. it recommended I do uninstal & restore Norton, which I've done, & it went from no networks available to some, but won't connect still. This sound like anything obvious? Presumably its the wireless thing on the laptop? as the others are ok....
