Initial plan is to not get too involved over in South Africa, as its an all " Workriders " Maiden card and so pretty much anything could happen. Strategy might change depending on what happens in the opener -

12.25 Vaal - Gone with 3 and at the prices could do with the combination Forecast -

CHINESE WHISPER ( Holding form well, exposed, but still respected at 16's )
CLARET CUP ( Moderate debut, but showed pace and should be capable of better )
ERHARDT ( Fair debut after starting slowly and another who should show more today )

18/1 place in the opener, so no harm done. Having a dart in the next as JINGLE looks big at 50's -

1.00 Vaal -

MIESQUE'S RUMBA ( Poor latest after showing improvement, capable of better at 40's )
MUMSTER ( Just his 4th start and should appreciate the drop back in trip )
JINGLE ( Good improvement second time out and shocked to see 50's available )

Disappointing ( polite way of saying filth ) in the 2nd, so one more go before switching to domestic action -

1.35 Vaal -

BERDANINE ( Below par latest after improved couple of efforts. Cannot rule out at 20's )
RED DUNES ( Drop back in trip should assist, after some promise on debut )
SEA REVENANT ( Moderate debut, but showed good pace & is capable of making progress )

There can of course be benefits to betting on inexperienced riders and definitely got lucky in the 1.35. The rider on the FAV was well in control coming to the line and whilst he did not " sit up " he definitely eased off. BERDANINE took advantage to come through to pinch it at 18's. On to the next

2.10 Vaal - SUGAR CUBE - Jockey is 2/5 for the trainer and SC really should be better than first couple of runs indicate. Extra distance today should help and for me, one of the more likely ones at 5's.

Mainly outsiders domestically -

3.45 Thurles - SUMMER STORM - The sole realistic pick at 4's

4.05 Newton Abbot - THE SNAPPY POET - Fair sort. knows how to win and EW appeal at 33's

5.25 Thurles - LARRY TULLY - Technically held by the FAV, but only 2nd start today and maybe a shade big at 28's.

6.45 Chelmsford - PRAIRIE LIGHT - No real improvement on 2nd start and probably more one for h'cap's. Nicely bred however and do like the trainer so small EW at 100's.

3.20 Carlisle - LANDMARQUE and THEATRE ACT - Both realistic contenders at 7's.

7.45 Chelmsford - MARBOOH and NEW STREET - Both have a few questions to answer, but plenty of appeal at 8's and 20's respectively.
