Nice winner Topdog.
I will post this up on behalf of a new poster on horsnap.com
Quality stuff in my opinion.
CORNER CREEK 4.00 CARLISLE
Corner Creek won his point to point well at Toomebridge really well beating Kilgeel Hill 4ls. The form of the race is sound. It was the second fastest time of the day and the second was second to Rock The Kasbah the other day pulling 12ls clear of the third The Green Ogre. The Green Ogre has previously finished second to a 140 rated rival. The fifth home in that point to point was Gingili who won a bumper for Donald McCain at Musselburgh on Friday.
Corner Creek cost 168k euros at the sales and makes his debut for Michael Scudamore today. It is interesting that Liam Treadwell has decided to travel to Carlisle for the one ride as he could have ridden No Through Road at Southwell.
In the last six years Michael Scudamore has only sent five runners to Carlisle with two winning and when going off at single figures odds the record improves to 2-2. He sent Grace Tara to win a bumper here in May.
Donald McCain has won two of the last three runnings of this race and was second two years ago. He relies on Court Dismissed who was beaten in his bumper here last time to Becausehesaidso and pulled 9ls clear of the third. He beat Gigginstowns Nickname Exit and Just Cause a head and 2.5ls at Kirkistown Point To Point. Nothing has come out of the race and won or placed. Court Dismissed cost 41k euros at the sales. McCain is 3-7 with the progeny of Court Cave in bumpers, 3-5 on their first two runs.
Bronco Billy will have to improve on his second to Duelling Banjos last time. He was beaten 5ls and looked like a horse that already needs further. He is a full brother to 90 rated hurdler Allez Cool and owned by Coolmore. The stiffer track will help today but he may find himself outpaced at a crucial time.
Conclusion: This is a three horse race but there were a few ‘faces’ who wanted Corner Creek at Brightwells Sales. He is related to graded winners, Freeline Finishing, Colonel Rayburn and Blue Irish. He is owned by Mark Blandford, owner of Next Sensation, and he may well have another good one here.
