Solskjaer 1.17 :eek

tell me somebodys taking the piss.

I don't think Villa are in a position to take a chance on a novice like Solskjaer tell the truth,he has the persona and attributes to make a top manager I've no doubt but let him learn the job first. It'll be a bigger risk than Mcleash.

Slick, not really sure from your post whether you know this and don't think it relevant, but Solskjaer's been managing for a few years now. Won a couple of titles as manager of Man Utd reserves, and has just taken Molde to their first ever title in Norway.

Whether or not that qualifies him for a crack at the Villa job I don't know, but he's not a complete novice.

When it was reported that Lerner had flown a plane over to Norway to pick up Solskjaer so they could talk his price dropped as low as 1.2 on Betfair, now it is clear that he is just one of several candidates his price has bounced out again.

These next manager markets are fantastic trading opportunities as long as you play safe and don't leave backs/lays in unmonitored. I'm currently -£12 on Solskjaer but between +£45 and +£166 on the rest just messing around with small stakes.

I agree with Slick - they need to get it right this time after such a disastrous season, Solskjaer would be a massive gamble.

Heard on Sky Sports News this morning that Solskjaer has plenty of money at Molde, no surprise at all they won the league.

I think he would be a massive gamble but lets be honest the Villa job is not as attractive as it has been over the past few years, The squad needs an overhaul.

Solskjaer out to 6.6 (did touch 16.0) after apparently turning down the Villa job....lovely jubbly :)

Not sure he has turned down the job yet. Coulld be Lerner has just flown his private jet from Cleveland to Norway then to Birmingham just to gauge public opinion. Molde have three more games till summer break so it could be they will wait until after Mon 28 to offer it/announce it publically, or not offer it if public opinion is strongley against.

Yes, back in to 2.7 so the fun and games continue.

Back to 2.00 now and the fan boards seem to mainly want him to come.

The Villa fans in general were very fair to Mcleish and gave him time but it was the game against Bolton when the mood really turned in late April when in reality the mood could have changed far earlier.

Solskjaer will be given time by the Villa fans as expectations are fairly low at the moment. Also I feel he will be given money if the chairman feels he can trust him, - although this may be the sticking point as to whether this is the move for him.

I know all that RC, managing Uniteds reserves and Molde doesn't smack of enough experience to me for managing a prem side.
He'd be better off cutting his teeth in the Championship or npower leagues imo to prove his worth, i just think it's a huge risk for Villa to take.

I don't think he will be given time Colbro, if Villa after a couple of months are struggling near the bottom of the league big questions will start to be asked by the fans, they aren't going to settle on being relegated just because Solskjaer is young and relatively inexperienced.

From what I understand (which is only what I've picked up from Talksport, he won a Mickey Mouse league after spending a shit load of money on players (relatively speaking). I wouldn't have thought that that and a few reserve team titles would make him anything special. What happened to that nice Alan Curbishley chappy?

Cancel my last - just seen him in the betting. I'm surprised that at least a Championship team haven't gone for him yet.

I think Gus Poyet is going to be given a chance in the Premiership sooner or later. He's done well at Brighton and has the ability/contacts to bring in a decent player or two.
