Premiership Winner 2013/14

Nice one, mate. Personally, I'd love to see Arsenal win it but it does look like City from here on. All depends on how Arsenal fare in their difficult upcoming run of games.

Personally, I'd like to see Arsenal win it too Seen to be honest, (Sorry Slick - and Keem).

They have an absolutely horrific February and I think they're two players short of a Premiership winning squad - unless they land someone in the next couple of days which seems unlikely.

You don't have to apologise, if I wasn't a City fan I'd want Arsenal to win it too.
Apart from the Joe Hart clanger at Chelsea the difference is City this year are winning the games that matter against the teams that matter, Qu City getting beat on Monday night now I've put the bleedin mockers on it.
I'll give Pellegrini his dues though, he has City playing the best football I've ever seen us play. There also seems to be a sense of team spirit and comradery about the club now; something that was lacking under Mancini.

Good call and timing ODM.

I nearly did the opposite a month ago and shifted my money on to Chelsea but i'm glad i never now.

I'm not making much on this market, it's the same pay out for all, bar Liverpool Spurs and Utd for me. None of those 3 will win it but a small profit gained by backing Liverpool @ 38 and laying them @ 15 and again @ 6.6

After Liverpool i'd love to see City win it, they are just brilliant to watch, some of the passing and goals are as good as anywhere on the planet. I had to have a tenner on the quadruple @ 125/1. It's unlikely, but not impossible with what and who they've got.

Can't blame you for wanting City to win it Punter. Slick says its the best football he's ever seen his club play, we've all been watching football for a lot of years and I'd go as far as to say its the best football I've ever seen any English club play in a season. The only teams that comes anywhere near it are the Arsenal teams of a few seasons ago. Some of it is breathtaking.

Even though I'm expecting it, it still makes me smile when I'm watching it. An example tonight - cant remember who the players were but City were defending and the ball was played out from there box. A city player has a man right on him and he sort of back heels it with the inside of his foot (if that makes sense) I another player and he's on his bike and City are in the attack. Brilliant.

If City hadnt won it yet would want them to do it if only for their fans - rhe genuine ones. not the bandwagon jumpers who are no better than Uniteds plastics - who have put up with so much over the years.

But Arsenal have always tried to play the right way and their fans have had their frustration of Doctor Wenger not splashing out on the two players they need to challenge for the past three years or so. It fucking annoys me so go knows how angry it makes them.

Apologies for the English above - including use of the wrong 'there' - iphone typing - nuff said

I can see how that can be frustrating for the fans and I hear enough of them venting their anger out on Wenger when things aren't going well but is it really Wenger those above him pulling his strings hence the reason he has been at the club for so long.
Fergie knew what he wanted and knew how to get it, Wenger on the other hand is a great manager and front man for Arsenal PLC, I get the feeling he knows what players he needs to make Arsenal a force again but the backing is not always there for him.

I'd actually like to see Liverpool win it Punt if City never, I mentioned Arsenal because I think this season it might just be out of your grasp but a Champs league spot would be a fantastic achievement for Rodgers.
More than anything I'd like to see Liverpool take the league record away from them to shut the cnuts up again because ever since that n...n..nn..nnn...nineteen; they've been like a fcuking broken record.

Top 4 is our first target Slick, that's going to be very difficult now that Utd have got Mata.

Chelsea have taken the transfer market to a different level. That's two players they've had from under our nose this season. They didn't need them, just bought them to stop a rival getting them. Selling Mata to do damage to their rivals as they've already played them twice too. Wankers.
They are trying to dictate results without even playing. Same could be said of Utd, snapped up Zaha and have not given him the slightest chance of succeeding. They know he's good enough to go out and cause trouble to their rivals though, loan him to Cardiff. Wankers.

Aye Zaha is a strange one, there was talk about him shagging Moye's daughter but the way he's been treated I'm beginnig to think it might have been closer to home.
United spent a lot of money on him and he's not had a sniff in and believe me Zaha has the makings of a good player, he may not quite be the Giggs of old but he's better than the Giggs of present, He was a Fergie buy and I'm pretty sure bacon face would have given him a chance somewhere along the line this season.
Same could be said of Scott Sinclair with us last season but he did get a few outings; just that he never took any of his chances and looked out of sorts.
Would I have bought Sinclair in the first place..'no' but I would have took a chance on Zaha because he's a young kid with plenty of promise and I still believe will become a very good player, how good I don't know because I've not seen him play in the Prem.

Chelsea may have sold Mata with the thought of damaging their rivals but he's playing in a position where United are not short while Rooney's fit, can they play both without weakening other areas of the field? we are about to find out.

Well there could be many twists and turns between now and the end but I've just gone through the rest of the fixtures for this season and I don't see City clawing the two points deficit back between now and the end of the season. So I think my bets are fucked.

To make things worse, I moved more money onto Man City in play yesterday and laid some of Chelsea at between 5/4 and 6/4 (which I'd backed last week at over the 4/1 mark). So now it's City or bust for me. Arsenal are not green for me anymore but they will be my smallest loss (and there is wiggle room if they should start to look likely winners again).

Liverpool went from 25 to 15 yesterday and although I got some back and lay in on them, they will be my biggest losers. However, I've been through their fixtures and I don't see them closing the 4 point gap on City, let alone the 6 point one between them and Chelsea.

Like I said, there will be twists and turns but City's two key games between now and the end of March are Stoke and Manure away. Chelsea's are Spurs and Arsenal both at home. I've got Spurs taking 4 points from those two games and City will need to win both of theirs for me to change my mind about who wins the title.

My mistake, the Stoke game is at City's place, not Stokes. That would make a swing of two points which means that I have City and Chelsea picking up the same amount of points for the rest of the season and therefore Chelsea winning it. Fingers crossed for West Brom holding them tomorrow.

Where do people see Liverpool finishing?

We're a bit hard to work out at present. We smash Everton and Arsenal and struggle for a draw with Villa home and Albion away.
In the opening 20 minutes v Arsenal we were awesome, did you see Suarez volley? Fuck me.

Spurs still on our tail just 3pts behind.

Spurs are not convincing, Liverpool are but as I said above, I see them dropping too many points from here on in to see them catch Arsenal. As Winrew says, fourth.

When you look at the fixture list I'd have to say Chelsea or Liverpool, but the way Liverpool have a bad habit of self imploding I'd have to say Chelsea:cry

Im not sure about Liverpools finishing position, i'm going to say third, i've a feeling it's going to be all down hill for Arsenal now. Ozil is way off form, no Wallcot and they've a run of really tough fixtures that's going to finish their season off. It's all french bullshit.

I'm taking Arsenal NOT to finish top 4 @ 11/2, when i get paid on Friday.

I actually backed Liverpool on Sunday, £20 ew @ 14/1 (1/4 odds, 1-2) - I don't really see them having enough to win it but I can definitely see them shortening up over the next few weeks, my plan is to lay off the win part on Betfair for a free bet and keep the place part for a bit of interest.

Unfortunately I too think Arsenal will start to drop away now, they were torn apart by Liverpool on Saturday and remembering their 3-6 defeat at City and 0-1 loss at Man U, it seems they don't have the strong mentality in the big games to carry it through - they still have to go to Chelsea, Spurs and Everton and like Punter says, Ozil isn't playing well (or rather teams have sussed him out - don't allow him time or space on the ball) and Walcott is a big miss.

Liverpool have lost their 3 most difficult games (away to top 3) but at least they're out of the way now. Of their 7 remaining away games, 5 are against bottom-7 teams (all of whom L'pool beat by at least 2 goals at home), one against Southampton who have nothing to play for, and finally at Man U, who are shit (even with Mata, Rooney and RVP). They do have 3 tough-looking home games v Chelsea, Man City and Spurs but they've totally demolished both Arsenal and Everton at home so far as well as seeing off Man Utd so there's nothing wrong mentally there for those big games.

What I like most about them is the way they start games at a lightning pace, they've taken the lead in 19 of their 25 league games this season (more than any other team) and have the best first-half record...

oywa_c13_u9gwx.png

...the number of goals scored in the first half is phenomenal - 42 in just 25 games, an average of 1.68 per game, 12 more than Man City, an astonishing 20 more than 3rd-best Chelsea, and almost three times as many as Arsenal.

Their first-half home record is...

1-0
1-0
0-0
3-0
2-0
3-0
3-0
1-0
3-0
1-0
1-2
3-0
4-0

...only in the Aston Villa game have they conceded a first-half goal at home, they've scored 3 or more by half-time no less than 6 times (from 13 games). In comparison, Man City have scored 3 or more by half-time in all games just twice, while Chelsea and Arsenal have achieved this feat not a single time from 50 combined games.

If they continue to hit teams hard early on (and they clearly have the strike-force to do so) then teams are going to find it incredibly difficult to get back in the game, like Arsenal discovered.

They've got some very winnable games coming up...

12-Feb-14 A Fulham
23-Feb-14 H Swansea City
01-Mar-14 A Southampton
10-Mar-14 H Sunderland

Good post, interesting statistics Seen and good luck with the bet.

Those next 4 games are more worrying for me though, not as easy as they first appear imo. Fulham will be up for it and will believe they can take a point at least after their performance at OT on Sunday. Swansea are all up for playing for the new manager, bad timing for us Laudrup going and it's BR's old club. I disagree with the Southampton have nothing to play for bit a little, i know what you are saying league wise but there's three or four players in their team on the fringes of making it to the world cup with England. They beat us at home earlier in the season and beat us at theirs last season too.
I'd hope to pick up 3pts against Sunderland, but it's not guaranteed. I wouldn't rule out a draw here, Sunner have taken a couple of big scalps already this season and they haven't lost away (league) since November.

I think we'll get either 7 or 8pts from these fixtures.

Fucking hell Seen, if I could have had a bet on who would be the first to trot out the "have nothing to play for" bollicks this season, you would have been bang bottom of the list :)

And so early I'm the season too.

Just watch Southampton turn Liverpool over now Punter.

I see Arsenal having a difficult month ahead, and Liverpool have been aided this season by not having the European commitments that those around them have had but I still don't see them being above Arsenal in May.

Comfortable fourth for me. Sherwood is in a honeymoon period but the guy is never a long term Spurs manager (not this time around anyway - I see him getting fucked off to manage some lower level Prem team - a team like Leicester would be a good shout or one of next seasons other newly promoted clubs who get off to a bad start.

Spurs and Everton are the teams I see falling away and fighting for 5th place with a gap to the top four.

Chelsea
City
Arsenal
Liverpool
