Season 2019-20

Traeth don't forget your picks.

A little Dickybird told me you didn't do them last week and got over 100 points:frown
Miss this week and it's zilch.
This is another example why I seriously believe this Betnod prize competition should not be based on ‘I Know The Score’.

A few years ago a player won top weekly prize although he had not entered many predictions that particular week but was awarded a set of more than decent computer scores.

Good luck to the guy whose name I cannot remember, but I felt peeved that he had deprived another of the money.

This week on a different IKTS mini-league another player beat me although he had not entered all his scores. That is why I am falling out of love with the IKTS set-up.

I’m also less than impressed that it takes so long to get full Bonus points. It takes 5 weeks to gain a full 20 point Bonus whereas other competitions add it immediately.

To be honest I’m 50/50 on whether I want to sign up next season.

I know full well this subject has been debated on a few occasions and that most Betnod guys are content to leave things as they are but the question must be asked is why so many past players have dropped out?

I think a double whammy next season could bring some of them back. Just having nine players is boring, we need around 20 or so.

# Change the prediction website. [Here I have experience of other prediction sites and can offer advice if needed]

# Reduce cost of entry. £30 is actually not a big deal but in some people’s minds it is a big wad of money. I run a Prediction competition for FGR supporters and have 19 predictas @ £10.

I would recommend entry is dropped down to perhaps £15 or even £10. That would encourage more fun players, who are prepared to lose a tenner but enjoy the challenge of the game, to join up.

If Betnod get enough entries then income/prizes would remain stable to present time.

Agree with you on the issue of computer-generated scores, Newman.

Don't agree regarding the 5 weeks to build up a 20-pt bonus though - personally I don't have a problem with that at all. I don't see the point in just immediately getting a 20pt bonus. You've already got an immediate reward in the form of the x2 or x3 points on that particular match for correct use of your bonus chip - the +5/10/15/20 is to reward those who can use it wisely over the long term, and protect their bonus once they've built it up. To be honest, I'd rather there were no bonus at all than just having an automatic 20pt bonus every time you correctly use your banker.

As for the issue of number of players, I agree that the more the better, and that we are down to the bare bones now. Is the price the main reason for that though? Might be worth sounding people out over the rest of this season to try to find out whether anyone not currently playing would be prepared to play at for example a tenner.

Couldn't agree more, there's a lot I don't like about IKTS.
I'd scrap every bonus and just have a bonus for a correct score, no guarantee chip chip, banker bonus or weekly bonus, it should be based on skill alone.

It's handy using IKTS because it saves on admin as everything is done automatically but I'd be willing for a change if there is something better.

Get rid of the predictions part of the statistics section
Sorry H but not sure what you mean.
There are plenty of web sites that offer statistical analyse of forthcoming matches.
If you mean the stats that IKTS offer, I never use them [possibly reason I'm not doing well] because it is so tempting to post a different score rather than the popular forecast.

Its the stats part of IKTS Tom, it tells you what everyone else is predicting - get rid of it and predict your own scores Tom

Tough this week for anybody with a decent banker bonus who wants to keep it.
I entered my predictions on Monday and put it on Liverpool, then realised today they aren't playing and now the fixture has been removed.
Just giving a quick heads up in case anybody else did the same.

IKTS prediction stats this week:

Everton 2-1 Arsenal [0-0]
A Villa 2-1 Soton [1-3]
Bourne 1-1 Burnley [0-1]
Brighton 1-1 Sheff U [0-1]
Newcastle 2-1 C Palace [1-0]
Norwich 1-2 Wolves [1-2]
Man City 2-1 Leicester [3-1]
Watford 0-2 Man U [2-0]
Tottenham 2-1 Chelsea [[0-2]

Now lets see how accurate the most popular forecasts be. :cold
1 x perfect, 2 x correct, 6 x incorrect
Points: + 50 pts, minus 60 pts, total score = minus 10 points.

Cheers Newman, merry Xmas and a happy New Year to you too :beer

What a nightmare of a week last week was.
Howson forced me to play my banker bonus when I was considering leaving it, as he bagged a 90 pointer and it just went down hill from there.

Don't forget the next set of predictions has three sets of fixtures starting boxing day.

Traeth, you need to fill your predictions in.

Missed all yesterday's matches despite Slick's warning.
Obviously annoyed with myself but if has resolved my opinion that this will be my last season with Betnod.
Hated it when others gained points for not entering a forecast and it's same for myself. I should have got NONE.
